Assassins's Creed : Slade's Return

Chapter Six : The Recovery

Jade closed the door behind her and turned to see Slade up and awake in bed. as she walked toward him her breathing quickened, as she thought about what she planned to tell him as she reached the foot of his bed. Hey there its good to see you Slade said to which Jade merely stood next to him and smiled, though deep down she had been fighting a growing tension within herself. Though Slade has sensed that something was troubling her so he sat up in the bed to get comfortable as he spoke again. Are you okay Jade? you look awful he said as Jade had pulled up a chair up to his bedside before speaking again. What's the damage? she said in a quiet voice as Slade had then sat up  grunting a bit due his wound as he then replied. Nothing too bad the doc said that all I needed was to take some medicine, and get some rest and I'll be right as rain he said to which Jade grinned though it soon started to fade as she spoke again. Arthur what happened Jade said to which her face turned to a look of concern, as Slade had started recalling the details of what happened in his mind as he replied. I was ambushed by four men they managed to spook my horse with mini bombs, but soon a fifth had joined and how he carried himself  I assumed he was the leader and I was right however he was different Slade said to which Jade looked puzzled. How was he different? she asked to which Slade then looked at the wound to his side as he then continued. We were equal in combat every step he made was precise and sharp it was unlike anything I've ever seen, it was like he was studying my moves and I him so I tried to disarm him but you saw where that lead he replied back. Jade was taken back by his words she knew that for someone, to stand against him and wound him like that would have meant that they had trained. Slade then sensed the worry in her face so he put his hand on hers as she glanced at his hand reach for hers. Jade knew at this moment that her time to tell him what she had been keeping a secret, for all those years was at hand as she then slowly looked up at him before speaking. Arthur ever since you saved my life in Venice I had vowed to stay by your side and help you, on your journey to keep you safe as you had for me at that time she had begun as he had listened. And I am forever grateful for our friendship and the times we've had but I have been keeping a secret from you, all these years that we have been traveling and fighting together side by side. Slade looked at her as she struggled to say what she had been waiting to tell him as she continued . Seeing you on that forest floor bleeding out made me realize that it was the second time you almost died, at the Observatory when you almost died I was scared. Because I thought I'd never get the chance to say how important you are to me and this what happened to you, I thought I had lost you again that I'd live with the regret of not telling you how I feel she said tightening her grip on the hilt of her sword. I want to be there for you Arthur not because of this dumb vow, but because.... I love you Jade said finishing her thought. Slade was surprised by her confession as he laid back in his bed and smiled before returning to his position as he replied. And I  have a confession as well he said to a much  confused Jade. Seeing you after all these years have made me realize how important you are to me as well he said before Jade's eyes widened as he continued his thought. And I too love you I have always but feared that the council wouldn't  agree, that they would deem it against our customs but to put in a better perspective I just don't give a damn he had said looking to his sword in the far corner. Without saying a word Jade then moved her chair closer to his bed facing him as she put a hand to his face, to which he put his hand on hers as her breathing soon softened. As Slade than pulled her closer his brown eyes locked with her blue eyes as they gazed at each other in silence for what seemed like hours, before she had then spoken to him again breaking the trance over them both. I love you Arthur she said as she kissed him a kiss that would forever bond them as lovers. Slade than preceded to kiss her back their lips making contact sealing them as one as she spoke again. I've wanted to do that for a long time Jade said to which Slade then smiled as he replied to her. What a day its been first I get ambushed and than we become lovers  in respect, I do say that I'm starting to feel better now Slade had said laughing. The two had sat talking for hours telling of how they loved each other to talking about the past and the mission now that things have changed for them. As Jade stood up to stretch her legs and moved around the room a bit before Slade had spoken again. Stay with me tonight will you? after all you know this place, better than I best to stick together he said as he had laid back down. Of course I'd love nothing more than to stay with you she replied before taking off her gear with him watching as Jade, had removed the pin from her hair which resulted in it falling to her face. I've never seen you with your hair down you look beautiful Slade had said to which Jade walked over and kissed him. The two exchanged kisses and good nights before Jade tired from the day's events drifted into sleep, however Slade watched as she slept peacefully returning to his laid back position. It was than that he remembered what the council had told them that they would discover something about themselves on their journey, with him looking at Jade one last time before he too drifted into sleep.
