Chapter Fourteen : Trouble On The Train

It was early in the morning when they arrived at the train station to depart for the return trip to London. As they had all gotten to the platform to find Slade's train all ready to go to which John was the first to speak. Wait a second this train belongs to to you? how can you even afford a train? he asked puzzled. Indeed she's not the prettiest locomotive but she'll get us to where we need to go in no problem it was donated to me after all by the Order as a gift he replied smirking. They all boarded the train and were on their way to London though they received warnings of a terrible snowstorm ahead which would warrant a slower arrival as Slade sat down to speak to Jade. You heard the engineer Its going to be awhile before we get to London, so I'm going to get some much needed rest wake me up near the halfway point he said putting his hood up as she replied. Okay Arthur get some rest I'll be in the next car over if you need me sleep well love she said before leaving the car. Jade and Ashley had gone to get some food while John too slept in a nearby cabin. Though as they ate Jade noticed that Ashley was acting funny so she sat down next to her. What's wrong Ash? the foods not that bad is it? guess we should have shopped a little while in Paris huh? Jade joked about the food to which Ashley uttered a chuckle before she stopped eating before replying. Its not that Mrs. Lestrade pardon my speaking but its this train something feels off to me I just can't explain it. Though as Jade was about to reply to her the train had stopped with a force that caused them both to fall to the floor. Damn it what the bloody hell? Ashley are you okay? Jade asked to which she got up before helping Ashley who then replied to her. Yeah I'm fine but why did we stop? surely we couldn't  be there yet and that force ugh my head is doing rounds. She replied to which as Jade looked toward the car door she saw Slade rushing to join them in the dining car as he called to them. Jade are you girls okay? none of you are hurt are you? come let me help you up he said helping them both up as Jade replied. We're fine love but what happened? the train all of a sudden just stopped we aren't there yet said to which he looked out the window. No we're not far from even this is an emergency stop, but I'm going to the engineer now to see why he's stopped us and in the middle of a blizzard no less he replied as they moved to join him. Slade and the girls had passed through countless cars until they reached the locomotive, there the engineer was trying frantically to control the engine as he then opened the door. Jackson! need I remind you that we're kind of in a hurry, so what's the problem up here we need to get back to London post haste so why have we stopped? Slade said to which he turned worried as the driver started wiping the sweat from his brow as he replied to him. I'm sorry Mr. Bolin I'm trying my best the controls just went haywire so I had to stop us to make repairs, but I assure you we'll get moving very soon oh boy that's not good Jackson said to which Slade then sighed. What is it now? what's wrong with my train Jackson? Slade said putting his hand to his head to which the engineer looked out the window as he then replied back. See for yourself sir even if we get moving again there's something there, smack dab on the tracks its blocking the way it has to be removed or we're not going anywhere Jackson said as Slade continued. Just one problem after another you just worry abut getting this train moving, we'll handle the blockage on the tracks but Jackson I want this train ready to roll upon my return. Slade said to which Jackson continued to work as he exited to Jade awaiting him as she spoke. what's the situation Arthur? why did he stop the train? she said to which he nodded before closing the door as he replied to her. The train went haywire for some reason so the engineer is working to fix it but there's something blocking the damn tracks, it has to be removed or we'll be stuck here which we can't afford the delay he replied with groan. So what's the plan? Ashley said to which John then walked in as he continued. You girls sit tight me and John will go out there and remove the blockage he said to which Jade then spoke again worried. You can't just go out there its a blizzard you'll freeze to death, before you even reach the blockage I don't know she said to which Slade smirked before walking to her. It's the only way beloved besides you now me we'll be fine just out and back before you know it Slade said reassuring her. Well okay but you will bundle up good the both of you, I don't want to drag your frozen butts in here am I understood gentlemen? Jade said laughing as he replied. Yes Ma'am alright John we'll need these goggles to see and our vision will be limited, to which we'll use these flares to light our way back now if we got everything then lets get moving he said as John handed him a rifle. Alright the sooner we get back in here the better I'm already chilly he said as he bundled up. Don't worry like I said I'll be out and back in before you know it. Slade said to which Jade then zipped up his coat and kissed him before she replied to him. You better be or I'll go out and get you myself be carful out there beloved she replied as he nodded to her. You ready for this John? he said holding on to the door as he spoke up groaning. I suppose I am ready to go out into the freezing cold to potentially freeze to death, you know that kind of thing Grandmaster he laughed. Oh don't fuss Mr. Cross I do this thing all the time you'll be alright Slade said as he laughed. With that Slade and John opened the door to feel the cold wind of the outside.
