Assassins's Creed : Slade's Return

Chapter Eleven : The Intruders

Later that night Slade was awoken from his sleep with a noise in the other room he then looked over to Jade who was still sound asleep next to him.  As he had heard another noise he started shaking her which caused Jade to push him away before she spoke sleepily. What is it?  can it? wait until morning I'm so tired? she said grumbling, as her rest had been disturbed to which Slade put his hand over her mouth waking her up fully as he whispered to her. There's somebody in the apartment listen, he said this before pointing at the door to which they became silent. As they  both sat in bed they could clearly hear the sound of footsteps outside their room as Jade soon became alert. Wait here I'll check it out Slade said throwing over the covers and slowly getting out of the bed to which Jade grabbed his arm. Be careful Arthur who knows how many there are out there. She said this as Slade then nodded to her before slowly made his way to the door to which he listened before slowly opening it. Now outside he could clearly see two men who didn't notice him, so he then slowly closed the bedroom door before deciding  to try and take them by surprise. Judging by the type of mess Slade thought that they weren't just robbers but that they were looking for something specific, though as he took his steps towards them the floor began to creak alerting the intruders. The robbers turned startled as Slade then lunged at the nearest ones tackling him to the ground, he then began to punch the man repeatedly in the face until the other man pulled him off causing them both to land on the glass coffee table smashing it. However they had gotten to their feet quickly and Slade having kicked the first man off him, was grabbed from behind by the other man who tried to keep him restrained. Slade who was more experienced however knew this tactic and having more strength than the man grabbed him by the arm, flipping him over his shoulder into the smashed remains of the coffee table. The man yelled as he was flipped which resulted in Slade delivering a sharp kick to his  face knocking him out, as the second man pushed him into the counter before grabbing his pistol which laid in its holster nearby. Jade hearing the commotion rushed out to find the man trying to shoot him, though he didn't notice her until she was right behind him to which he turned in an attempt to shot her in turn. However Jade having better reflexes had  kicked the gun out of the man's hands, which resulted in Slade spinning the man around before headbutting him. The man having been knocked out by his blow fell limp on the ground to which Slade then preceded to tie them up, while Jade called the embassy as Slade had rushed to grab his pistol and return it to its holster. After about thirty minutes later two Assassin officers from the embassy had arrived as Slade walked outside to greet them. There's two inside beaten and tied up get them out of my sight will you, before I kill them he demanded as the two officers uttered a yes sir before escorting them out as one had remained to speak to him. Are you alright sir? will you require added security on these premises? One of the officers had asked Slade to which he looked back in the apartment before shaking his head. No thank you we're fine for now but return to the embassy, and inform the council of this incident and report back to me when word reaches the post he replied as the officer nodded. Slade then closed the door to find Jade sitting on the couch, examining the mess around her to which he then walked over and sat down next to her. Jade looked to him and sighed before hugging him to which he rubbed her arm as she then glanced at him and spoke. Arthur your head hold still let me get a better look it's bleeding pretty bad, you could have a concussion here let me get you some ice to bring the swelling down. Jade said this noticing the cut on his forehead as she got up and grabbed some ice from the refrigerator, before gently patting his forehead with it as he then replied softly to her. Don't worry its just a scratch I should be right as rain a little later on honesty what I gave those two was much worse, in any case I'm sorry about the coffee table I know it was your favorite he replied before getting up. Though he pondered what they could  have been looking for as he thought to himself while Jade got up to get a class of water. Looking through the mess Slade had noticed that the letter, detailing Kel's murder was missing as he started to stroke his beard again. Jade walked back into the room and stepped over the big mess, to find him sitting in the chair nearest to the window before she spoke. What are we going to do now? this was too close Arthur someone doesn't want us snooping around. She asked this before taking a sip of her water to which Slade continued to stroke his beard, looking at the mess before speaking after thinking for a brief time. For the first time in my life I don't know what to do first off the letter detailing Kel's death is missing, leading me to believe that it was what those men were searching for they are trying to cover their tracks or someone is  at least he said leaning forward in the chair. Might I try to figure something out its clear from your observation that they didn't want us knowing about Kel's death so soon, which means in any case that they knew the letter was delivered to our post but why? go through such an intense effort to seize it? Jade said this as she walked over to Slade to which he got up from the seat, as he now starting thinking deeply on her words as he then replied to her. You sure do make some sharp points and then there's the question of who delivered the letter, I saw no one when it arrived were they perhaps trying to warn us if so then of what? He said this  before he moved into the dining area to which Jade then looked around before she then replied to him. That is the golden question isn't it? Well its almost sunrise to there's no point in going back to sleep, so I suggest we start looking in places that the Templars could be hiding in she said as Slade nodded in agreement. That could actually  work though we must be quick, for they will defiantly now know we're here we'll have to be on guard from here on out Slade responded rubbing his head. Alright then Arthur where should we start looking for Templar activity, it'll have to be somewhere where those bloody twats could hide in plain sight or carry out their schemes uninterrupted. As she said this Slade then looked at the mess before back at her as he snapped his fingers before speaking. From what I hear from the locals there is a place outside the city that they refer to as the slums, I suggest we look there after all what better place for rubbish to hide then around more rubbish he replied as Jade had then scrunched her nose. The Slums? ugh that sounds awfully dreadful I sure hope that you're right about this the very name just sounds foul, great now I'm thinking of what would be there to give it such a bad name she said as he continued. And dangerous which is why I'm going to request two Assassin Officers to join us on this mission, we could be stumbling into something big here and we'll most likely need some additional help he said as Jade smirked. What? now since when have we ever needed help?, If I recall we've always done rather well just on our own well you could be right more or less you usually are. Jade had said this with a laugh to which Slade joined her before he spoke again. Like I said I don't know what we'll find down there so its better to be safe than sorry, besides so far on this mission I've been stabbed, beaten and not to mention being threatened with my own gun he replied back counting his fingers as Jade then sighed. Yeah I suppose you're right on that account very well help will be required this time around so what's the plan Arthur? Jade asked as she also looked out the window. For now lets clean up this mess than get geared up, so we can begin the search and I'll send for them to join us at The Slums by the afternoon he said getting up. Sounds like a plan and with luck these officers of yours are up to the task at hand Jade replied with a laugh as he spoke again. Don't you worry Lestrade these are special officers, trained by yours truly their skills will prove very useful this time around Slade said laughing as she sighed again. Well if its the same to you love lets hope that you've trained them as well as your ego depicts, for what lies ahead will surely be a very long day but we're stopping to get coffee on the way or a doughnut perhaps both Jade replied back. With that Both Slade and Jade had gotten up and began to clean up the mess knowing that later on they would make for the Slums in the hopes of finding the Templars.
