Sitting next to Phil, on one of the highest buildings in the City, you look down, barely seeing anything thanks to the thick fog. You know you should really be leaving now, since Sam is probably already waiting for you, but you can't really bring yourself to stand up. Instead, you're just staring down with one simple question.
When did it all get so complicated?
You know a lot. You'd even go as far as to say that you know everything. Which you don't, of course, but you'd like to consider yourself to be relatively smart. Yet, you understand so very little of what is going on. What happened? What changed?
"You okay, Y/N?" Phil's voice suddenly sounds, the concern evident in the tone of which. You look up at him, as he stares back at you curiously and worried. You simply shrug.
"I'm just tired, that's all," you mumble, scratching the back of your head. "A lot of shit happened in a short amount of time and it's just been a confusing time for me. Still is."
"I understand," Phil chuckles, "you've been through a lot, huh?" When you nod, he smiles at you kindly. "What about I take you for a flight, huh? I'm sure the others are jumping at the idea of doing it, but as much as they have good intentions, I don't really trust them enough not to drop you on accident. So, we'll fly for just a short time and after that you and Ranboo will go to that thing of yours, huh?" Right. The thing you organized with Sam in his basement – which not at all sounds creepy when you put it that way.
Even if you know what it's like to fly, you've never actually flown with someone before. After all, it's kind of a weird idea for a date, even if it's platonic. But considering that Phil has those wings actually on his back and not connected to some machinery or invention, you're not surprised that he suggests it. You bet he offers it to everyone he meets, actually. So, you nod. It's a hesitant one, but a one anyway.
Phil puts you in his arms, almost carrying you like a child, and unexpectedly to the others flies right up. Even if for those who are usually scared of heights, you right away feel an unfamiliar adrenaline flow through your blood as the wind blows past your ears and skin. Out of sudden happiness, you scream, watching the small figures of the other Syndicate members walk towards the edge confusedly to see what exactly Phil's doing.
"So," Phil eventually says once you can almost touch the clouds that are not touching the ground, "any specific place you want to see?"
"Do you know the old bench in the park? It's near the Devil's Bridge, in the small forest." You say, as if there is a big forest somewhere. Phil smiles when he hears your idea and without responding with words, his wings lead him to the exact place you mean. It's weird to be so high and look down upon the place that you hold so dearly.
"This is where you and Techno met, right?" Phil asks curiously and you shrug.
"I guess. But the place in itself just means a lot, really."
"I understand," he laughs. "Techno has a tendency to go back there, you know. Apparently, it's like his quiet place. Is it yours too?"
"Honestly," you answer as you look the man right in the eyes, "I don't know. I don't know if I even have a quiet place or something like that yet." The man seems to feel sorry for that, but he simply smiles reassuringly.
"You'll find it sooner or later, I'm sure of that."
"Y/N!" Tommy's energetic voice sounds as he runs towards you, giving you a loving hug. With a laugh, you hug him back, happiness flowing through your veins. You repeat his name gladly, as you embrace him like any sibling would hold their brother. Tubbo walks behind him, talking with Ranboo with a bright smile – which really only causes you to smile as well. However, there is someone who you didn't really expect to come as well. Not at all.
