Some time had passed since Mon-El had arrived to the Earth of the future. The 31st Century as they called it was very different from what Mon-El remembered the planet to be like earlier.
There were no superheroes to protect the innocent citizens and the world had fallen to chaos. The Legion was also an almost defunct organization that was losing support and there was chaos and destruction everywhere.
To him, it seemed as if Earth was nearing its end too if things kept going down that steep direction. And he wasn't the only one with that notion, half of the Legion agreed with him.
Right then, he had been staying with the Legion while his space pod was being repaired and there were times when his stay reminded him a lot of his time with Young Justice.
He had never wanted to be a hero back then and thought that the Young Justice was more than enough to save the people in need. But his friends had motivated him to join them and play his part in saving innocent lives.
Right then on the earth that he had crash-landed again, there was no Young Justice, no Justice League and no other hero to look after the people who were suffering. And the world currently needed a hero the most.
He had been pondering on what to do because even though he wasn't one to voluntarily take up the task of a hero or a protector, he couldn't bear to see the people suffer either. Spending time with the Young Justice had brought about a great change in him and he could no longer go back to being the careless person that he used to be earlier.
So far his best bet was getting the Legion involved. Of course, he couldn't do things alone and needed help. He was on good terms with the Commander, Imra, so he thought it fair to give it a chance and talk to them about what he had been thinking.
"Mon-El, there you are," Imra's clear voice shook him out of his thoughts and he turned to look at her.
She handed him a cup of coffee and sat down on the chair across from him. He accepted the cup but the thoughtful frown hadn't faded from his features.
"You seem to be brooding a lot these days," she remarked, hazel eyes observing him closely, "what's on your mind?"
"Have I ever told you about my friends?" He spoke up and that abrupt question took her by surprise at first but then she shook her head.
"No, you haven't told me yet."
"Would you hear me out?"
"Of course," she smiled warmly and he retrieved his gaze, his heart skipping a beat.
There was something about her genuine demeanor that made him falter. Perhaps he had an inclination to fall for people who were genuine, loyal and warm.
Just like Kara.
But thinking of Kara made him realize what he was about to tell Imra.
"Back in the time I came from, there were vigilantes who kept the city safe," he spoke up, deciding to tell her first and then discuss it with the rest of the Legion if she approved, "there were teams of them. The Young Justice, the Justice League and the Bat vigilantes."
She kept silent but nodded, encouraging him to resume. And so he told her about how he had met the Young Justice and the impact they had had on him.
Mon was not open with everyone but Imra had the quality to listen patiently and offer her trust and support. So he didn't find it hard to share stuff from his past with her.
He even told her about Supergirl and how much she had changed him, from a shitty person to the man he was currently.
Imra was listening to his tales as if enraptured, learning about those heroes of the past that she had never even heard of.
