It was a Saturday and Kara had to go over to the Smiths' residence to spend the weekend. Connor was there too and Ava was once again thrilled to have the two over. Morena and Jonah had gone for a short trip to meet Morena's family in Gotham and though Aa should have gone along with them, she had refused by saying that Zach couldn't be trusted to be left alone in the house.

That evening, the two siblings had kept bickering just like earlier, making their parents realize how much they had missed their lively arguments. However, Ava won in persuading them to leave her at home so Morena and Jonah went without her.

Kara and Zach had returned from the Daily Planet's office together, a bit tired after covering a major article that they had been working on together. It was due to be printed for the Sunday issue so they had gotten a little late at work.

Ava had texted that they would be ordering takeout so when the two reached home, the table had already been set for dinner.

"Oh so you finally decided to show up," Aviana greeted them as Connor opened the door, "I was just telling Con that I wouldn't wait any longer for you two."

"We got held up at work," Kara replied, hanging her coat off at the hanger beside the door, "if it hadn't been for the editor's last-minute changes, we could have gotten home an hour earlier."

"Don't worry," Connor spoke up, "dinner's laid out so you two better sit down and eat before Ava eats everything herself."

Zach chuckled while Ava threw him a glare, "oh yeah? I bet you're the one who's intending to eat everything up and put the blame on me later."

"Nope. Not at all."

After dinner and a movie marathon that Ava had been most excited about, it was finally time to call it a night. True, the hours had ticked by fast and Connor was already asleep on the couch from where Ava was struggling to lift him up.

Kara controlled the urge to laugh as she spoke up, "hey, let me do the honors."

And though Ava stepped back, she was curious to see what Kara would do. Right next moment, Kara smacked him hard on the shoulder and he sat up in alarm, clutching his shoulder tightly.

"Holy fuck, who the hell dropped an asteroid on me?"

"I did," she remarked triumphantly, "now get up from the couch, you sleepyhead, and go sleep like humans do."

"Hey!"

By then Ava and Zach were both aware of the Kents family being half Kryptonian but for some reason, Connor had managed to hide it from Aviana that he was a clone. He knew given that his friends teased him about it so much, she was bound to find out sooner or later. But for the time being, he had chosen not to tell her.

So Ava spoke up, "someday I'm gonna crack out why you guys tease Con about not being a human, regardless that Kara and Clark are from Krypton too. I sometimes feel there's more to it."

Connor looked horrified at that remark while both Kara and Zach burst out laughing.

"No Ava, there's no such thing like that," Connor spoke up, "all of them just like to annoy me for no reason."

"Well, actually there is a reason that you should..." Kara's eye sparked in mischief and Connor thought she was about to tell Ava about him being a clone, much to his horror.

So without waiting for even a second longer, Connor had picked Ava up and dashed off, "no, Kara, shut up!"

Kara knocked on the rather familiar bedroom door gently before stepping in and saw Zach rummaging in his closet for a loose-fitting T-shirt. He was shirtless but hearing her come in, he quickly picked up the shirt he had discarded and was about to put it on.

She knew why he was doing that; he was insecure about the scars and burn marks that covered his back and torso. So before he could put the shirt back on, Kara hugged him from behind, taking the shirt away from him.

"Hey, give it back," he mumbled but she had thrown it away on the couch, out of his reach, "why did you do that?"

"I felt like it," she kissed his cheek lightly, "and by the way, why did you get so flustered about putting a shirt on? It's not like I haven't seen you like this before."

Her breath tingled his neck and he tilted his head to look at her, "I know that."

"Then?"

"Nothing," he did not want to tell her the real reason for it but she knew nevertheless.

Her arms were wrapped around his bare frame as she nuzzled her head in his neck, knowing full well that his cheeks would be heating up by then. He was so damn adorable that it was irresistible for her and quite impossible not to make him flustered.

But right then, her main aim wasn't to make him flustered. In fact, it was the complete opposite.

"Zach," she mumbled, a soft kiss tainting his shoulder, "you do know that I have X-Ray vision, right?"

He was startled by the question, "yeah, so?"

"So even if you cover your scars up, I can still see them."

He paused because he had not expected her to know that he was insecure due to the scars and burns, "oh..."

She had pulled back slightly, her finger tracing the network of scars, burns and fading stitches over his back. He had stiffened but didn't stop her because every single line she traced over his back tingled his skin with a familiar warmth.

"I don't know what you think but to me, these scars are beautiful," she spoke up, her voice soft and reassuring as she tried to lessen the insecurity he felt, "you wanna know why? Because they are a part of you. And to me, all of you is beautiful."

Her words made him overwhelmed by a strange yet comforting feeling of relief and gratitude. The reason he was so insecure about the scars was that he thought those dents in his skin were hideous.

But hearing the total opposite from Kara and learning that she didn't think of those permanent scars as hideous as he had thought made him feel better.

In fact, she had said that those scars were beautiful, just because they were a part of him. It was like her telling him that all of his imperfections were flawless for her because she loved him and truly cared for him.

He turned to face her, his palms gently cupping her face. She gasped in alarm as she saw that his brown eyes were watery with tears welling up, "hey, why are you..."

But before she could ask him anything about it, he had sealed his lips on hers in a gentle kiss. Her lips were soft against his as he sweetly kissed her, his hands weaving into her blonde hair while hers rested upon his chest.

After what seemed like a long time of staying locked in each other's arms like that, Kara mumbled, "you wanna stay standing for the rest of the night or..."

The sound of his laugh broke forth at last as he felt a burden lift from his heart, "of course not."
