Never left him behind [Mandela Catalogue] Jonah x Adam

Chapter 9

It was almost the same day for Adam, every noon Jonah would come and visit him until visiting hours were over. Adam appreciated this, he enjoyed the company.

Then, unexpectedly, a group of volunteers barged into his room and sang him a very cheesy song. It felt as if the people were singing him happy birthday. Adam awkwardly sat there, with a forced smile waiting for them to leave.

Right before the volunteers left him alone, they handed him a heart shaped balloon. A few minutes after the volunteers left, Jonah came.

"Guess what I have." Jonah said while closing the door, his back turned.

"Uhmm.. Oh I don't know, lunch?" Adam knew exactly what Jonah brought because he brings it every time.

Jonah just chuckled to himself, then swiftly turned around and headed to the bedside.

"I brought..." Jonah trailed off, he had noticed the balloon.

"Where did you get that?" He said pointing to it. Adam followed.

"Oh, some random person gave it to me." Adam wanted it to be as vague as possible because he knew Jonah would tease him about it.

Jonah's smile faded ever so slightly, his stomach twisted a little. Why was he getting so worked up over a balloon?

"So, who uh.. gave it to you." Jonah didn't understand why he was still staying on the topic. It was after all, just a balloon. It didn't mean anything. So why did Jonah want to know who gave it to Adam?

"Some dude I guess. Why do you ask?" Adam's suspicions were growing. Jonah bit his tongue. He didn't know how to respond.

[I couldn't be.. no....I just...it's just a balloon....so why...]Jonah's thoughts jumbled. He couldn't think straight. He felt pressured.

[Maybe I am... maybe I'm jealous.] [Jealous of what?] He continued. But it didn't last long because Adam was sitting there waiting for a response.

"Nothing, I was just...curious." He lied. He couldn't let Adam know he felt jealous because someone gave him a balloon and he didn't.

[This is so childish.] Jonah grew a bit frustrated.

[Why am I having these thoughts now, our relationship is still recovering just like him. I'm not even sure if I....] Jonah's thoughts were cut off by the sound of Adam's voice.

"So uh.. are we gonna eat or.."

"OH! Right, sorry." Jonah set both of their food down. They continued to eat in silence, a bit of conversation every now and then.

Author's note: 😭I'm sry- I keep on forgetting. 

This fanfic might be over soon, I've hadn't had any more ideas to keep it entertaining without making one of them die. (Totally not foreshadowing or anything...)
