As we arrived, I looked at the building in front of us. It was a very fancy restaurant. Suddenly I was glad I dressed up nicely.

We walked inside and a waiter brought us to a table. We sat down and looked over the menu.

L was eating a slice of strawberry shortcake when his phone went off. I took another bite of my shortcake and stared at him intently as he took the call.

"Hello?" He looked at me as he said it, rolling his eyes as if he was saying 'right when we were on break'.

His eyes widened. 'It's Watari,' he mouthed.
"Yes, what is it?"

His eyes grew even bigger, as I heard Watari's murmurs over the phone.
"Yes, we will be there as soon as possible." He hung up.

He slapped a wad of cash on the table and stood.
"Y/n, we have to go. They found her."

He didn't even give me a chance to stand before he grabbed my hand and dragged me from my position.

Soon we stood outside of the restaurant, and the familiar limo swerved to pick us up.

We hopped inside as Watari sped off onto the road. The speed was clearly very illegal, but we had our ways of getting out of legal trouble somehow.

My nerves were running wild as we sped down the highway.

What would we find with her?
Where would we find her?
Who would we find there with her?
Why did she leave?

My anxiety eased for a moment when L squeezed my hand. I hadn't even realized he was still holding it.

"Are you alright? You look pale," he questioned.
"I'm... I'm fine. Just... a little bit nervous," I admitted.
"I know. Every time there's a new case, this is the most anxiety inducing part of it." He looked at me.

He gave me a small smile of reassurance. I gave him one back. He didn't let go of my hand. I didn't want him to.

"Everything is going to be okay," he assured again.

L slid into the side of the limo as Watari turned at breakneck speeds. As for me... I slid against L. So now we were stuck in a momentary embrace in the corner of the limo.

I felt my face heat up.
"Sorry! I'm really sorry Lawliet!" I pushed myself off of him.
"Ah, no Y/N. It's alright." Again, I thought I saw a shade of pink tint his cheeks and tips of his ears.

"We're here," Watari said quietly as he slammed the brakes. We jolted forward.

We gathered ourselves and stepped outside to recover from the nauseating ride.

I looked up from the ground to see where we were. I saw an old, run down warehouse standing precariously in front of me.

"She's.... In there?" I pointed at the building while looking at L.
"Supposedly."

I took a deep breath, and opened up the door.

Agents quickly brought us to a room.
"Get ready. The thing you're about to see might need some preparation," one of the agents said.
