~Your POV~
I slowly began to wind down, the memory of the evening drifting away, allowing me to focus on the present.
I took a deep breath, not letting the inky blackness morph into monsters before me. My heartbeat slowed, and my eyelids grew heavy. My affections for Lawliet overpowered my overactive imagination.
I thought about the future. What would happen? I thought about the letter. Would I ever give it to him? I thought about our next case. Would it be as dangerous as the Kira case? I hoped not.
Before I knew it, I had drifted away into the land of dreams.
Lawliet was there, lying next to me on cold the cold concrete sidewalk. It was raining. I felt the droplets splash on my face. I turned to Lawliet.
"What do you think the future holds, Lawlipop?"
"Lots of excitement, I'm sure."
He stood, and held out his hand to help me up.
"Come along Yume, I want to show you something."
I took his hand and walked with him. Soon we came up to Whammy's House. Why was this in Japan? It doesn't matter right now. I followed him inside.
"This is our future, Yume. Far future, yes, but future nonetheless."
"What do you mean, Lawliet?"
He snapped his fingers, and soon the empty building was lively with children playing and having fun. In the center of it all, was Lawliet and I.
We stood there, watching the children run and play with smiles on our faces. Maybe this really was our future, not just some crazy dream. I could believe that, but I wasn't sure if Lawliet would.
Slowly, Lawliet and I faded away, and we were lying on the cold, wet concrete again, our faces wet with rain.
"Or maybe this is our future," he said with a smirk.
He snapped again, and suddenly we were in a graveyard. He led me up to two graves. On them, were our names. L Lawliet, Y/N L/N, in loving memory, your hard work was your fall.
"Our hard work was our fall? What does that mean?"
His skin bubbled and popped, melting away into a rotting skeleton. I screamed, this dream becoming a nightmare. This couldn't be our future, there was no way. Although I'm sure Lawliet could believe this one much easier.
Quickly, I felt myself shoot up in bed, my body covered in cold sweat and goosebumps. I wanted to get out of bed to find L, before I realized he was in bed with me.
I moved closer to him, careful not to wake him. My heartbeat slowed to a steady pace, and I was now sharing Lawliet's warmth.
"I hope that is never our future," I whispered quietly, the words directed at a sleeping Lawliet's body.
I fell asleep again, hoping for sweet dreams this time around.
