~A few weeks later, Your POV~
I was sitting on the couch, watching my favorite movie with Lawliet, when I got a call from Watari. I picked up quickly.
"Hello? Watari? Is everything okay?" I barraged him with questions as soon as the call connected.
"Y/N, I have, ahem, news. Could you put the phone on speaker so L can also hear? It's very important for both of you to know."
"Of course Watari." I did as he asked.
"Good. Y/N, thank you for suggesting that I visit the doctor's, however, I fear that I have visited too late."
"What do you mean?" Lawliet asked.
"Doctors have found a cancerous tumor growing very near to my spinal cord. They cannot operate and remove it for fear that I may lose all function or simply die. From now on, I am to stay in the Tokyo hospital for expert doctors to try and treat it."
"What!? They aren't going to operate?!" I asked.
"As per my request, they will not. They have warned me that I do not have much more than a year before the tumor causes my death if I do not want an operation. I've decided that I will be alright without it. I've also been warned that treatment will most likely be unsuccesful, so I have my will written out in case of my death."
"Alright, Watari, if that's what you want, then I guess we can't change your mind," L sighed.
"Thank you L. Goodbye to both of you."
"Bye Watari," we both said in unison as he hung up the phone.
Suddenly, the realization that Watari was going to die set in all at once. I nearly collapsed with the heavy weight of the feeling. I took a deep breath and figured I should go to bed.

~A few months later, at Watari's funeral, Your POV~
Dressed in all black, standing next to Lawliet -and Watari's coffin- I found tears welling in my eyes. I looked down at the pale body in the coffin, then forced myself to look away just as fast.
I whispered Watari a final goodbye, then went to sit, as the will was to be read soon. One of the funeral directors walked up to the podium, and began to read the official will and testament of Quillsh Wammy.
"I leave my savings to the children of Wammy's House, and I leave ownership of the house itself to L Lawliet and Y/N L/N."
I stifled a gasp. L and I had been given ownership of Wammy's House?! The rest of the will was brief and uneventful, but all I could think about was what we were going to do now, if we had ownership of Wammy's House.
As soon as we left the funeral home, Lawliet began to plan around the newfound information. He mumbled to himself, much of it was undiscernible to me.
