You Break Up

Steve - It was a difficult decision to make but it was probably for the best. You didn't want what you had to end but when Steve found out he didn't get into the college he wanted to, he was crushed. You had managed to get into a college far, far away from Hawkins and you were really excited to go but you wanted Steve to be there with you. When you told him that you were going to take a gap year so you could go to college at the same time, he knew he had to do something. He told you that he didn't love you anymore (a lie) and that he still had feelings for someone else (another lie). You were angry and hurt and you told him to 'fuck off' before storming off. You've been at college for 5 months now and not once have you tried to contact Steve.

Eddie - Eddie decided to break up with you after he overheard a conversation between you and your parents. They were saying how they were disappointed in you for skipping out on school again and Eddie knew it was his fault (after all he was the one you dragged you out for an impromptu road trip). He didn't want you getting into trouble or to cause difficulties with your family so he decided to take one for the team and break up with you. As much as it devastated him do so, he told you that there was another person he was dating and that he liked them more and so was going to end the relationship. You were too shocked to say anything as it seemed so out of character for Eddie to be like this. Shock soon turned to anger and within minutes you were kicking him out of your bedroom, locating the nearest ice-cream supply and curling up in bed. You knew nothing last forever but this one was really going to take you down.

Max - You were fighting too much, way too much. You hated the way that she never opened up and she hated how invested you were in the relationship. When you started dating she never intended to get into a proper relationship, not after losing Billy, and she just sort of freaked out and started pushing you away. She found herself finding things to complain about and in turn you grew more snappy. In reality neither of you were ready for a relationship and so after another argument you both decided it was best for you to break up.

Peter - You didn't notice it at first, how controlling Peter could be. It wasn't until you were telling your friend about your mysterious, long-distance boyfriend that she pointed out the red flags in your relationship. The problem was that once you noticed them, you couldn't stop seeing them. How paranoid he would be about who you talk to. How he'd watch you whenever he wasn't around. It was just too much and you told him just that. You told him it wasn't healthy and that you couldn't spend time with him anymore. He freaked out and got really angry saying how you couldn't just go and abandon him now. However, once he noticed the fear in your eyes he apologised and told you to leave. You haven't been back to the lab since and you certainly haven't spoken to Peter. Though every now and then you get this feeling like he was still watching you.

Robin - You broke it off with Robin over dinner. You tired of the secrets. The two of you decided it was for the best if you kept your relationship a secret outside of the party and you were fed up of having to pretend that you were just friends in public. You were sick of having guys flirt with you and not being able to tell them that you already have a girlfriend. You didn't like the fact that you couldn't openly hold hands and you were definitely fed up of your mum trying to set up on dates. In the end it was probably the best, you just needed time to figure some shit out.

Will - While you had been excited to visit Hawkins with Will, you knew it meant meeting the guy Will had had a crush on for so many years. You were shocked to say the least because mike was nothing like you were expecting. When Will talked about Mike he made him seem like the greatest person to ever walk the Earth but to you Mike just seemed like a prick. He practically ignored Will the whole visit and when he did talk to Will he made so awkward that it was hard to believe that he is his best friend. One night, you were with the whole party when mike made a snarky remark to you to which you obviously responded with an equally snarky comment. Will didn't like how you were talking to Mike and the two of you got into a huge argument over it. It got to the point where Will told you that he couldn't believe the way you were acting and that he doesn't want to date someone as jealous as you.

Dustin - You were excited to see Dustin after he'd bene at camp for most of the summer. However, when he returned all he could talk about was some chick called Suzie. Literally every conversation you had, he would find a way to mention Suzie. 'Oh Suzie is so smart' 'Oh Suzie is so funny'. Like does he not think you're smart and/or funny? He's even building this big antenna thingy just so he can keep talking to her. One night you finally snapped saying that if he likes Suzie so much then she should just be his girlfriend instead and he got all angry and said 'fine I will'. You've spent the entire summer alone while Dustin sits having walkie talkie chats with his new girlfriend. 

Lucas - When you started dated Lucas he was this sweet, funny kid who cared about you and his friends. Since joining high school though he's been on a mission to gain popularity. You can't really blame him, being bullied does suck but you hated how he'd just follow what all those other guys were doing. After one of his basketball matches he dragged you to some abandoned building out in the woods to celebrate with his friends. he getting drunk and the night just wasn't fun anymore. You didn't like how some of the guys were acting with you and you most certainly didn't like watching all the dumb things Jason and Co were making him do. You told him that you were going to go home and that you were tired to which he responded that you were boring and that you should just live a little. You threw his drink in his face and told him to sober up or find a new girlfriend.

Mike - You knew that Mike still had a thing for El and at first you decided to just ignore it. You like El, you thought she was cool and you couldn't really blame him for still having feelings for her. However, when he started to compare you to her during an argue net you decided you'd had enough. You were arguing over nothing when Mike said that you should stop being  such a bitch and that El, never would act like this. You instantly lost it at this and told him if El was so great then he should just date her instead. 

Nancy - You could tell that you were a distraction and you hated it. If there was one thing you knew about Nancy it was that she had very high goals. She was ambitious and that was one of the things you loved about her the most. But when you noticed that her grades were slipping and that she was spending less time studying and more time making out with you, you knew something had to be done. You tod her that you couldn't date her until after the exams passed, telling her that dating was a distraction for you and that you couldn't have her around you all the time. Nancy was fuming and the break up really lit a fire under her arse and inspired her to get her highest grades yet.

Jonathan - You loved his artwork. The way he could capture so much emotion in one single photograph amazed you. One night when he was late getting home, you decided to look through some of his most recent pictures.  There were some really nice ones until you found some pictures of another girl. Now this could have just been some model for a project but you recognised it as his ex, Nancy. Still, you thought that it could be innocent until you found the photo he had taken of them mid kiss. Absolutely fuming, you ripped the photograph up leaving the house in a rush. It wasn't until Jonathan got home and found the ripped up picture that he knew he's fucked up.
