It's been a month since Kensi had been able to breath on her own. It's been tough, but I've been able to get through it.
Liam asks about his mom everyday, wondering why mom won't answer his calls, or hold his hand.
Liam was sleeping against my chest, when I started to wake up in the chair next to Kensi's bed. The sun was beaming in through the window, I could feel it was going to be a good day.
"Dadda!" Liam says as he wakes up.
"Morning buddy!" I say as I playfully mess up his hair.
He giggles, and I flip him around on my lap, so he can face his mom.
He reaches across to her bed, and places his hand over Kensi's.
"Momma!" He says as he carefully pats the top of her hand.
I smile at Liam, and follow him by parting the stop of Kensi's hand.
"Good morning, sweetie." I say as I get up to carefully kiss her on the forehead.
I carry Liam against my hip and pick up his diaper bag, and quickly head towards the elevator.
"Where are you headed to this morning, Mr Deeks?" Georgia, an on call nurse says as I push the down button to the elevator.
"I need to quickly go get some coffee downstairs, and change this guy!" I say with a laugh.
Georgia smiles and laughs, "I'll let you get on with that then!"
The door to the elevator beeps, and I carefully step in after a man in a wheelchair is pushed out.
I click the button for the main floor, and turn around to stare out the glass doors.
The entire bottom floor can be seen from this elevator. The multiple people being pushed in wheelchairs, to the people walking with their IV machines, it's incredible how one place like this could heal all these people.
The door to the elevator opens, indicating our short by sweet ride is over.
I walk into the family bathroom downstairs and quickly start to change Liam. After washing my hands and throwing away what's necessary, I jolt down to the cafeteria and buy one coffee and some orange juice.
I take the elevator again and arrive back to Kensi's floor.
"Back so soon?" Georgia says as she looks up from her chart.
"I want to make sure Liam and I are the first ones Kensi sees when she wakes up, I don't have anytime to waste!"
"You're wife is lucky to have someone as caring as you, Mr Deeks." She says with a smile.
I smile back and walk back into Kensi's room.
Kensi is still peacefully sleeping like Aurora, the Disney princess. But she's my princess. Princess Kensalina.
Her mouth is open ajar, and her pallid face shows that's she's cold.
I place Liam down on the chair with his juice box, and I sit at the edge of her bed, and carefully pulling the blanket over her cold body, leaving one of her hands for me to hold onto.
"I love you, Kensi. I have always loved you and always will. Please come back to me Kensi, please!" Tears start to stream down my face as I bring her hand up to my lips. I place a soft kiss on her hand and don't let go.
Her hand slightly twitches under mine. Startled, I look down at her face to see that her eyes are slowly parting.
"Kensi?" I say with loads of joy.
Her eyes open fully, and her beautiful mix matched eyes greet the world once again.
"Deeks?" She says with a cracked and hoarse voice.
