Chapter 6

Startled that her friend was telling the strangers about her, Jenna choked out "Kim, no."

The human ignored her, though, and kept going. "Her sister grew up under her care after her parents died. She used to get beat up a lot by her pack, and she'd do pretty much whatever they'd tell her to or they'd threaten to hurt her sister instead. When she found her mate, she brought her sister to the pack with her and ticked off her Alpha...But they were on another pack's territory so they were safe" she explained.

Jenna just kept crying, not having the fight in her to stop Kim from telling her story. Christina draped a comforting, motherly embrace around her shoulder's in an effort to soothe her. Karma was stewing in anger over a pack abusing their members, and was plotting ways to check into if it was still happening.

"Focus on listening first, we can plan later" Alessia said, extinguishing the flames of anger that had been growing. She was right, that could wait...For now.

The human, unaware of the rage she was inciting in Karma, continued on. "Jenna wound up pregnant, but just as she found out, she also learned that her sister had been kidnapped by her old pack...She knew what they were capable of" Kim said, wincing a little at the thought. "She begged her mate to save her sister, to send people immediately...But he refused. He couldn't risk his people on a mission without coming up with a plan, making sure it wasn't a trap, and all this other junk...So Jenna took it upon herself to save her."

Jenna had managed to calm down thanks to the comforting embrace of Christina, despite the two being strangers. She sighed but smiled at Christina gratefully before picking up for Kim. "They overpowered me quickly enough, and my old Alpha took his anger out on me...I was just glad he wasn't hurting my sister...But...In the end, I lost my baby because of the beating" she said, another sob escaping her.

Kim gave her a sympathetic look, and picked up on the story again. "The pack ended up coming in and rescuing them both in the end, but...Her mate was livid. He said she jeopardized the safety of the pack for one person who wasn't even part of the pack, and forced their hand to come save their Luna. She also killed their next Alpha, and essentially proved she's not worthy of being Luna."

Karma let out a low, angry growl at that. She was growing more and more protective of this stranger the more she learned. Kim looked at her, shocked to hear the sound coming from a human-like individual. She'd never heard a werewolf growl before, and it frightened her.

"We're in front of humans, could you please contain yourself?" Christina chided her daughter through mindlink.

Karma had the decency to flush in embarrassment and look down at the table, but her anger remained. "Sorry" she mumbled aloud.

Kim just gave a nervous smile, but kept going for her friend's sake. "Um...Anyways, ever since, he's been distant...They managed to get pregnant again, but...Jenna said it wasn't like before...Like he was just fulfilling a duty. And he hasn't slept in their bed since everything happened...The pack knows what's going on, and while they treat her decently enough...Well, frankly, I'm worried it's just because of the baby" she admitted.

Christina was frowning, still rubbing comforting circles on Jenna's back as she thought.

"He needs her to give him an heir, but I don't know that he'll keep her around after that" Faith said to Christina.

Christina agreed, and relaid the same to her daughter through mindlink.

"You think he plans to kill her?" Karma mindlinked back, shocked.

"I don't know if his wolf would let him, but...I'm surprised his wolf has let him get away with treating her as he has. We need to help her" Christina replied.
