after everyone left the house sadie went to her room. she didn't have a specific plan for that morning, only later in the day when she would join dylan for a coffee. she wasn't sure what her thoughts were on the whole situation with that boy, or any other if she was honest.

dylan was definitely sweet, they exchanged the numbers the night before and as soon as he got home he texted her. it's safe to say they've been texting nonstop since. he knew his way with words and was a sweet talker for sure.

then, on the other hand, there was jeremiah. things were somehow different between them this summer. the looks they shared felt different. the blue in his eyes sparkled a little more. she didn't like the way her breath hitched when her own eyes met his.

she sighed putting another shirt in the closet. she finally decided to organize her clothes from the suitcase. she packed in such a hurry she forgot what she even brought. did she even own this many clothes?

she pulled out a hanger and put a dress on it. it was an old dress her mother bought her years ago but it was a size or two too big. she never actually wore it but for some reason, she brought it with her. it was a light blue summer dress with daisies. when she was younger it was her favourite even though she didn't wear it. sadie hummed a soft tune as she continued organizing clothes and putting the old ones away.

once she was finished she made her way downstairs where she was greeted by laurel in the kitchen. sadie cursed in her head, she still didn't apologize for her words and a few nights before. the atmosphere around them was weird, sharing a few words only if it was absolutely necessary.

sadie didn't like that, and neither did laurel.

taking a deep breath the girl made her way to the kitchen, "hey," she mumbled. why was she so awkward? it was laurel, whom she knew her entire life. that woman changed her diapers for god's sake. "hey, laur," she repeated, sitting on the stool.

laurel, drying a plate turned around, "hey?" sadie played with a ring on her finger as she spoke, "i just- i'm- la-," she groaned then sighed, "i'm really sorry for how i acted the other night. i- i was drunk, but that's not an excuse. i didn't mean what i said . . . i'm really grateful for you and susannah for being there for me and piper. i hope you're not mad and that you can forgive me."

laurel's eyes softened. she put down the plate and the towel. "sweetheart," she put her hand over her fidgeting ones, "i'm not mad and there's nothing to forgive. i'm just really worried about you."

"i'm sorry for disappointing you," her eyes were full of tears now. sadie didn't imagine the apology to be so emotional. "you could never disappoint me. don't do that to yourself. if there's something you want to talk about, i'm always here."

sadie repeatedly nodded her head. without another word, she hugged the woman. it was that kind of hug that you don't want to let go of. it was that kind of hug in which you're holding on for dear life. a comforting hug that healed wounds.

it went unnoticed by sadie but, laurel needed that hug too.

once they pulled away, a little teary-eyed, sadie stood up and took the towel laurel previously put down. "let me help you," she took another plate and started drying it. the woman watched the girl concentrate on drying plates.

that particular moment reminded laurel of katherine. both crawford girls really were their mother's daughters.

"i talked to dad," sadie put another plate on the side, "he said he's coming here for the fourth." once andrew moved out of cousins he never looked back, "he is?" the woman questioned. they shared a look and sadie nodded.

"the more the marrier i guess," laurel mumbled. sadie turned to her, putting away the last plate, "i think he wants to sell the house." the girl told. the woman nodded, her head being clouded with thoughts, "you don't want him to sell the house, do you?"

sadie leaned on the counter, "no, not really," she paused, "i mean, i haven't been there in years but it's still the place they got married at. he- he can't just sell it." she tried to reason.

andrew's childhood house in cousins has been abandoned for almost a decade. he had wanted to sell that place for the longest time but katherine would never let him. she'd always change his mind, convincing him that it had too much sentimental value to get rid of it.

"have you tried talking to him?" sadie shook her head, now beginning to pace around the kitchen, "piper tired but to no avail. he has his mind set."

laurel thought for a moment, susannah probably had a spare key. if she wasn't able to convince the man not to sell the house, she could at least take the girls there one last time, "i'll see what i can do."

ㅤㅤㅤㅤ⎯⎯ㅤㅤNESSA'S NOTES!
first just wanna say this chapter sucks i struggled w it so much. i started writing it in another language for some reason?

ANYWAY, i have a really important question so I'm asking as much of you guys to reply as possible!!

do you want this story (act two) to:

continue when season 2 of tsitp comes out so it follows the show completely

continue loosely based on the books. like I'd follow the main plot line but it would have some differences

continue based on my own plot

i have a few books in my drafts so it's really important for me to know what to do regarding planning when to publish what

thank you for reading! don't forget to comment and vote! see you next chapter! mwah!
