❛ don't you know that i am right here?
spinning out, waiting for ya to pull me in ❜most uttered words in the world after a night out are 'i'm never drinking again'. but, does anyone live by those words? no, not really.
here sadie was, waking up with one of the world's worst headaches, regretting ever even trying beer in the first place. the sunlight that was entering through the window was so strong that it felt like somebody was stabbing her eyeballs. she didn't remember much of the night before, it was all a big blur. it seemed like the more she thought the more her head hurt.
she groaned loudly as she sat up. her room in the summer house didn't change at all, it still looked the same as the last time she was there. the walls were a soft yellow colour, decorated with pictures from all the previous summers. a twin-sized bed in the middle of the room with a chest of drawers on the left side. a window with long curtains that were just a few inches above the floor and blinds that sadie always forgot to use.
and a big closet. the only things inside were a few shirts and swimsuits from a few summers ago that she forgot. she still didn't unpack, all of her clothes were still in a suitcase which was a mess, all of the clothes just bungled up in a big ball. she wasn't sure how will she manage if she doesn't neatly put the things in the closet, she was already having trouble.
a soft knock on the door got her attention. sadie mumbeled a 'come in'. if she was honest, she was expecting belly or susannah but when jeremiah peered in she wasn't disappointed. "good morning!" he softly greeted closing the door behind him with his leg. in one hand he was holding a plate with toast on it and in the other he was holding a glass with green liquid in it.
sadie hummed in response, she watched him put the plate on the chest of drawers and then sit on the end of her bed. jere handed her the glass, "here, this is my magic juice that heals hangovers." the girl looked at him skeptically, not believing the abilities that he claimed the liquid had.
sensing her skepticism he brought the glass closer to her, "i'm serious! it already got conrad up for a swim." sadie hesitated but took the glass nonetheless. jeremiah smiled and she couldn't help but smile back.
"it looks suspicious," she admitted eyeing the glass in her hand. he tilted his head, a fake pout on his lips, "are you doubting me, sades? this concoction right here works wonders, thank you very much!" she let out a laugh escape her lips which she immediately regretted because it caused a sharp pain in her head.
"that bad?" he was completely frowning now. jeremiah blamed himself, if only he didn't leave to join gigi and stayed with sadie instead. if he had stayed with his childhood friend he would be able to stop her from drinking so much. if she didn't drink so much, her fight with laurel would have been avoided and she wouldn't be in so much pain and discomfort at the moment.
she nodded, keeping a hand on her head as if that would stop the pain. jeremiah stood up from the bed and went to the window. he gently put the blinds halfway down so that the sun wasn't so brightly shining into the room. she watched him, "did i do something stupid last night?"
jere froze for a moment. he didn't want to break down the news of her fight with laurel. "yeah, you and laurel kind of had a falling out," he told her, deciding to be honest.
"fuck," she cursed, throwing her head back, the action didn't help her headache. the fisher boy returned back to his original spot at the end of her bed. "hey, i'm sure laurel already forgot about it," he comforted her. "i should still apologize."
"you should," he agreed, "but, you should get better first. drink my magic juice and don't worry your pretty little head," his smile really was contagious. sadie raised the glass up to look at it. he watched her inspect the drink and then take a gulp.
"ugh," she gagged, "this tastes like shit!" the girl exclaimed. jeremiah laughed at her reaction, "it's not that bad." the girl glared at him and continued to gag as he laughed at her. that moment felt like old times. it reminded jere of the time when sadie was learning how to cook.
the girl spent the entire summer trying out different recipes. her parents were both good cooks so she was convinced that it was in her genes. every other day sadie would make a small dish and make jeremiah try it. he ate some of it and it tasted awful but he didn't have the heart to tell her that.
she believed she was an excellent cook, up until steven tried one of her dishes. the conklin boy didn't hesitate to gag and insult her cooking causing the girl to run to her room crying. that was the first time jeremiah and steven got into a real argument, the fisher boy made the other boy apologize to the girl and promise he won't be that disrespectful ever again.
"jeremiah i swear if i'm late to my first day of work because of you . . ." as if he knew he was being thought about steven yelled from downstairs. "shit," the fisher boy cursed, sitting up abruptly, "i have to go."
she didn't know how she managed not to notice the lifeguard shirt he had on or forget the conversation about it they had just last night at the table. he kissed the top of her head without thinking and left the room in a hurry. "good luck," taken aback, sadie whispered knowing he probably didn't hear her.
