They hadn't spoken for a while, and every time they met, they still didn't say a word. Demos let her be.
-Are you going to the ball?- Cassey asked her friend.
-I don't have a choice, do i?
-No, you don't, besides, you do want to see me happy, right?
-Of course,- Devina agreed.
Both girls did their make-up and hair, and soon after they were wearing the dresses and high heels.
-I love this,- Cassey smiled,- it's like a dream come true.
-For some of us, yep..
-So, tell me, what happened between you and Nathans father.
-Uhm, nothing much,- she lied.
-You know i will find out, anyway.
Devina just nodded.
They went to the ball room, and when they entered, Nathan took Cassey by her arm, and Devina was alone, and she did what she does best.
She went to the table, where the alcohol was.
-I need a drink,- she said to herself quietly.
-No, you don't,- she was stopped by Ruby.
-Oh, hey!- Devina faked a smile.
-Demos is watching you, so i'd be careful of what i'd do, if i were you.
-Uhm, what?
-Yes, i just wanted you to know that,- and with that Ruby was gone.
Devina put the glass back down, and walked through the crowd, no one seemed to recognise her, and no one payed the attention, so she could sneak out easily.
-Devina, where are you going?- Casseys voice stopped her.- it's time!
Cassey dragged her friend closer to the throne, so she would be in the first row, the best sight to see what is about to happen.
-May i have your attention, please?- and everyone stopped what they were doing and watched the throne.
-We had a little misunderstanding, but...- Nathan spoke up a little louder,- may i introduce you to my bride, Cassey.
She was next to him, and they shared a kiss in front of everyone.
Devina didn't feel a hint of jealousy. She was actually surprised. And when the ball continued, she went to her room.
She locked the door and undressed, then she drank the juice and went to bed leaving the candles to burn, as she knew they were made to last all night, but there was a knock on the door.
-Im going to sleep.
-Devina, it's me.
She knew it's Demos.
-Can't it wait till the morning?
-No, it can't. Please let me in.
-Fine,- she got up and unlocked the door, as soon as she did that, Demos was inside, and she was in the bed, before even he could sneak a peek at her goods.
-You're fast.
-I have my moments.
-Have you thought of what i said.
-No, not really.
She wasn't lying.
-There is more to the story than you know.
-More?- Devina didn't seem surprised.
-May i sit down?- when Devina nodded he sat on the edge of the bed. -As my wife, you would have to give me a child.
-Oh no, the gross talk,- she wanted to laugh and vomit, and choke and vomit again, but she couldn't escape this talk.
-You need to know this.
-I suppose, but i can still call it a gross talk.
-Call it whatever you want.
-Ok. Does this mean, I will die?
-A what?
-You know that all of the women dies after some time.
-Yes, they do, but i think...
-You think i have something to do with this?
-Why else would the mirror send someone as young as you to be with me?
-Hey, hey! Don't think too far ahead grandad, maybe this was just a prank your mirror played, so you won't be so grumpy.
-Grandad? Grumpy?
Devina laughed.
-I made a joke, a good one,- she laughed a little louder.
-I don't think so, Devina,- Demos was dead serious,- I think that you will be the one who will give me a child, a baby girl, and all of this will be gone.
-If you think that, you are mistaken, i have no intention of sleeping with you, even if we marry, i won't. I couldn't do that to myself, not to my body, my mind. I just couldn't.
-Devina, you have to consider it as option.
-I don't want to.
-How am i to tell you all this in a different way.
-There is no other way, Demos,- he smiled, when his name escaped her lips.
-God,- he sighed,- you are so beautiful.
-Stop,- she blushed,- you probably had a few drinks too much.
Demos moved closer to Devina, and she went further back. She was against the bed post when Demos reach for her hand and entwined it with his own.
He leaned closer, but Devina was fast enough to jump out of the bed, and when she did that, she remembered how nice her night gown is.
Almost transparent.
