Mirror Kingdom "Chapter 25"

He watched her sleeping. She was so peaceful, he wished he wouldn't be the one to take the blame for what had happened to her.

Devina wanted to turn herself to sleep on her left, but she couldn't, and she came awake, remembering, that she just can't.

Her guest was standing at the window, a safe distance, just to make sure, not to wake her.

-Im up,- she whispered and Demos turned to face her, slowly walking closer.

-I wanted to say im sorry, for all i've put you through.

Devina mentioned for him to sit down.

-How are you feeling?

-Weird, i guess,- she managed to say,- tired and weak.

-I hope you'll get better soon.

-I do too,- she smiled. Demos took her hand in his.

-Im really sorry.

-I know,- Devina tried to get rid of his hand, but Demos held it tight.- doctor said, i can't argue a lot.

-Did he say that?

-Well, i decided i can argue, a little,- she closed her eyes.- and if you don't let go of my hand, im about to start.

Demos kissed her palm, and only then let go.

-I haven't told anyone about us.

-Us?- Devina giggled,- there is no us.

-There is,- Demos said,- weather you like it or not, there is, and there will be, one day, hopefully.

-Can i have that juice,- Demos stood up and walked towards the table getting her the glass, emtpying it, and pouring water in it.- damn, so Ruby told you.

-Yes, she did,- he said while returning and putting the glass closer to her lips.

-Im not that weak, i can hold a glass in my hand.

-Don't argue with me,- Demos said in a warning tone, so Devina drank,- let me take care of you.

-No thank you, im good,- she giggled.

-Im not giving you a choice, this is all my fault and im gonna deal with it. How is your wound.

-Hey,- Devina grabbed his hand, when Demos tried to take off her blanket.- only Ruby is allowed to change that.

-Ok,- he agreed and smiled.

The sun was shining right in the window, as the evening sun was slowly approaching them, and Demos walked to the table to get some food.

-I think you should eat something.

Devina understood that she had slept for more than a few hours, and her stomach did start to argue with her, she decided to let Demos feed her.

He took the bowl of soup and sat back on her bed.

-Open wide,- he said while taking the spoon and feeding her. Demos actually enjoyed this, and when Devina was fed, he felt the urge to kiss her lips.

He leaned closer, and took the chance while Devina had her eyes closed. His lips captured hers and he didn't let go until he felt Devina hit his shoulder.

-Khm,- someone made a noise and Demos stood up, seing that it's Nathan,- im sorry, i didn't mean to... disturb anything...

He actually blushed, and so did Demos.

-No, it's ok, i was leaving,- and Demos was gone within seconds. Nathan still couldn't believe what he just had seen.

-Wow,- was all he said.

-Can you,- Devina mentioned to the bowl what was still on her bed, and Nathan put it on the table.- thank you.

-How did this happen?- Nathan came closer,- what did i miss?

-It's nothing,- Devina tried to explain.

-This didn't look like nothing.

-It is, Nathan, no worries.

-My father... uhm...- he couldn't find the right words, when he remembered,- he kissed you in that party? Didn't he?

Devina nodded, there was no point of lying.

-Wow, this is actually so messed up! I thought he likes Ruby.

-I think he did,- Devina explained.

-No...- Nathan giggled,- i just cannot believe, i mean.. my dad is old... and you are...

-Nat, don't... please,- Devina said slowly.

-Wow,- he said one more time,- so you will like... marry him and become my moms???

Devina felt sick all of the sudden, and Nathan quickly grabbed a vase, throwing the flowers away, and letting Devina vomit in it.

-Sorry, i will try not to mention that again,- Devina nodded and with a loud groan she grabbed the vase again.

After the worst was gone, Nathan gave her some water and ordered a maid to help Devina clean up, and have some sleep.

-Drink this, it's a herb tea, it will help you relax,- and when the cup was empty, Devina closed her eyes and drifted into sleep.
