Hero and me were sitting outside on the patio, having some drinks and watermelon slices with us. Lea was climbing around on her Dad, squealing every once in a while since she had a ton of fun. Hero watched closely so she won't fall off, however wasn't exactly calm. He was quite jumpy and extremely uneasy, so I thought I'd take him out here so we can relax.
I stretched my legs a bit, groaning softly. Every muscle hurt in them, we had quite the problems yesterday since we brought the remaining corpses out of the basement, burning them on a clearing in the forest. Since then Hero got uneasy, he hated every second of this.
"Hero, what's wrong?", I eventually asked when he kept looking around. Hero glanced at me and lifted Lea back down from his shoulder, in a bit of pain since he helped as well. "Why did we throw the plushies away?", he asked eventually. I raised my eyebrow, a bit confused, before pausing. "Hero, those are corpses. Not plushies."
"But I filled them with cotton and stitched them up nicely!", he protested.
I genuinely was clueless why the fuck he even started stitching dead bodies up, nor do I want to know what he was gonna do with them.
Or with the skinsuit he made of me...
I stared at the floor again, not sure how to reply. This was sick, but he didn't understand that. He thought that this was just completely normal as it seemed, he didn't even mind that he dragged Jay into this.
Jay seemingly is gonna be in a massive pickle soon anyway. Our general escaped, Evander. We had no clue where he was, but there were some noises coming from Jay's and Notch's room a few days ago.
Weird enough, since Notch is in the infirmary, but someone definitely was doing... The "deed" in the room, if you catch my drift.
And not the singleplayer sort of deed either.
I frowned a bit before noticing Hero stare into the bushes a few meters away from us. He seemed concentrated on something, holding Lea close enough so she thought he wanted to cuddle and hid in the crook of his arm.
A bit puzzled I followed his glance, not seeing anything tho. So I looked back at him, noticing that he snuck one of my melon slices and bit into it, pausing when he noticed me looking at him.
I genuinely had no clue how to reply, and he was aware that he was caught in the act, so he just very, very slowly pushed the rest of the slice into his mouth and chewed, constantly watching me until I started to grin, amused.
A few seconds later we were both laughing, Lea watching us a bit confused.
We needed quite the while to calm down, Hero tried so hard to not choke on that slice of water melon when he put the rim onto his plate, same as the seeds.
Once we were done he chuckled and took a good sip of his drink. I chuckle and wiped some tears from my eyes, sighing happily. "Dang, that was good. But back to the topic, why we threw those corpses away. Hero, those were rotting, dead bodies. You don't want Lea to see those, do you?", I asked much softer than he seemingly expected, because he relaxed a bit too. "I don't, no... But I feel uncomfortable with them gone, I just wanted to fix them since I can't fix myself.", he explained, running a hand through Lea's short hair. She giggled and caught his index finger, nibbling on it with her already tiny, sharp teeth. I frowned softly. "What do you mean, babe?", I asked. "They were dead, you can't fix them."
"I wanted them to be alive... But they were flawed, so I had to put them to sleep before fixing them up, like pulling the plug on a robot.", he replied, a bit sad. "The humans are so flawed... They fall for the easiest tricks, get seduced easily, want to hurt others... Someone has to fix those people, but I don't think I can."
I got up and went to him, putting my hands onto his cheeks and making him look at me.
His eyes were a lot different than from when we first met. The cyan line that usually was around his irises had turned to a dull grey, there was no life in them, no hope.
I frowned sadly and pulled him close. He rested his head on my chest, closing his eyes. "I'm alright, sweetheart.", he whispered. "I'm not sad that we threw them away."
"But you're broken too, Hero. We need to fix you too, but not the way you fixed them. How did you even get that idea?", I asked the last question rather carefully. He held Lea close, sighing a bit. "Mom did so a long time ago with Dad... After she had murdered him, she tried to sew his wounds shut. Said that he was flawed, and that this is her fault. All I could do at that point was silently watch. I was 3 at that time, so not exactly old...", he mumbled, hiding a bit more into my fluffy belly.
It hadn't left after the torture he put me through, but I didn't judge him either. In fact, I'm kinda glad that this belly is still there, because now it enabled me to have him hide there and be happy with the pillow he receives, including the heartbeat that is located above it.
He was badly mentally damaged from the start, no wonder why Jura and Jay seemed hesitant with him around at first. But now they locked him into their hearts, and aren't letting him go, no matter what. That's exactly what he currently needs, he needs his friends and family to hold him in their arms, refusing to let go as the time goes by and we get into more and more problems.
And one has happened a few days ago, and seemingly I was the only one noticing.
Oh dad, what have you gotten yourself into this time... You do realize that Notch is extremely easy to break, if it turns out to be true what I think you did, then you possibly destroyed him once and for all.
Notch doesn't deserve this, I have to confront Jay about this at some point.
