I paused a bit, staring at the ground and thinking about this. Jubilea watched rather tiredly, not saying anything while I thought of how to explain this.
Why did I go back and safe him?
He's a friend, that's why. I had to in order to keep him safe. He's not an enemy, and you aren't allowed to leave behind your friends!
I bit my lower lip before realizing that he was giggling. A bit confused I tilted my head at him and stopped my train of thoughts. "What's so funny?", I asked. He giggled weakly before replying: "You're a man of honor. Everything you said just screams that you won't leave anyone behind, no matter what. I like that about you, Jura. You're a true friend."
I stared at him for a bit before looking back at the rabbit. Did I seriously just say all of this out loud...?
It was... Flustering, to say the least. His voice was painfully quiet and raspy, but he still smiled at me after that compliment.
I stuttered out a quick thank you and handed out the food, a bit shy now. I don't even know why...
Maybe that's just the incubus' charm.
We ate together, even if Jub stayed very slow. I was kinda deep in my thoughts now, kinda wondering if I should tell him what happened in my past. He nibbled on the meat of his rabbit's leg, seemingly listening to anything I'd say.
So I just started talking in between bites.
"It's not only that why I got you out of there. It has a bigger reason...", I explained. He looked at me with his green eyes, tilting his head curiously and listening closely. I sighed weakly before taking a deep breath. "Zephyr and I met... Long before you'd even think we did. He was always there for me when we were younger, we usually always did everything together. It was impossible to separate us. At some point however he decided that this life just wasn't for him. He changed a lot, taking on things that aren't exactly good. Cannibalism, a bunch of illegal shit, hell, he even got into trouble with a general! I really hope that general doesn't find us, but since I have the most shitty luck, he definitely will, if he hasn't already."
Jub nodded a bit, still listening. So I continued, kinda surprised that he was still ready to hear my whine that much. That's... Rare.
But not red sadly.
"Anyway. Zephyr eventually left me behind with absolutely no warning. He broke away from me and started his killing spree. And I? I was there, completely alone. No friends, no family, nothing. Just me and my lonely ass. A while later I got pissed at him for doing this to me, so I decided to prove him wrong and find my own destiny. So I went through every realm I could, explored every spot possible, destroyed every single threat, until I met Jay and Red. Jay was rather hostile at first, not letting me anywhere near Reddie. I didn't mind too much, just wanting to go my way until I got hurt by a wild wolf, getting my scar. When I woke back up, I was in a small house with Reddie and Jay. And that's how we met and got better together. Tho, when we met Zeph again... There's something off about him. Since he met Nightmare, he's been suppressing the urge to kill. I fear that he might snap...", I ended soon, sighing weakly.
Up until now Jub just merely stayed silent, listened and ate, but now he looked at me, head tilted. "You don't seem to trust him.", he pointed out rather calmly. I hesitated. "It's not like that. I trust him a lot, I just... I believe that there will be something going on soon... And I'm scared of that.", I admitted. He looked surprised for a moment before, to my shock, just nodding and putting the bone from his food away. "I get that, don't worry.", he admitted. I was surprised, but smiled softly at that.
He's a good little guy.

When I was done with putting out the fire, I noticed Jubilea being oddly silent. In confusion I looked over, realizing he was fully passed out. I grew worried and went over, nudging his shoulder softly. He didn't react however, staying quiet. He looked a bit more peaceful now than before, the pained expression was gone. But I still felt bad seeing him like this.
With a small sigh I picked him up, putting him onto my back and keeping him up by his legs so his arms are over my shoulders. Like that I went out and tried to find my way back. Which wasn't exactly easy with a realm lying on my back.
It's a bit ironic, I figured he'd have to safe me. That's how the stories go, isn't it? The smallest and frailest beings have to carry the strongest to victory since they used up all their power for a powerful attack.
I hated those stories. They're predictable and boring. Have no ounce of reality hidden between the lines of their "wisdom".
I damn near felt like throwing up.
With a heavy sigh I brought Jub home, or at least tried. Everything looked the same, I never had such big troubles trying to find my way around!
I let out a small sigh before trying to look for animals. We have a shit ton of wolves around our house due to Centi and our two giants. So that usually tells me if I'm in the right part of the forest or not.
Soon after I heard the howling of the wolves as they gathered. I sighed in relief before freezing in shock when they started growling and came closer, ready to attack. I let out a nervous chuckle and held Jub closer. "G-Good doggies, fine doggies...", I whimpered, scared.
The wolves got ready to attack and I let out a loud whine.
Shortly before they jumped tho I heard footsteps behind me.
"Don't attack!"
