Notchy was currently asleep, Cody was sleeping next to him since we had to separate Nightmare and Notch before latter  one would rip Nighty's throat out, so I headed to my room and sat down on the bed, waiting.
Over the last few days I have developed a bit of a... Bad habit, if you want to call it that. Everyone thought Evander disappeared. That he had left.
This isn't the case tho.
Every day, at the same time, Evan comes by, climbing in through the window. Like right now, where he did just that, very careful to not alert anyone. The window was open, so he smoothly slipped inside and came over, chuckling. "Heya, Jay.", he greeted me softly. I smiled and sat up a bit.
"Hey, Evan. How are you?"
"Pretty okay, and you?~ Tense as always?~"
I chuckled and nodded. He came to me, standing in front of me, and put his hands on my shoulders. I smiled and held them close, enjoying the warmth of his hands.
"Where's Notch?", he asked softly. I chuckled. "Still in the infirmary... He had a small panic attack previously before he attacked Nightmare, now they're both separated." Evander frowned softly and eyed me, noticing the marks Notch left when he pinned me. He trailed a finger over them, his eyes growing cold. "Did he do that?", he asked sharply. I sighed softly. "Yeah, he did. But don't judge him, he panicked.", I explained, trying to calm him down. "He doesn't have the right to hurt you, Jay.", he shot my argument down, sighing softly. "Don't let him hurt you like that."
"At this point, I hurt him more than he hurt me, Evan.", I replied, chuckling sadly. "He thought I'd leave him, I almost got scared that he found out about-"
"And? What is he supposed to do? Run after you?", he asked, almost mockingly. "Don't underestimate him, Evander. He managed to leap at Nightmare without much. I mean, yeah, Nightmare is really weak, but still. Not exactly easy with a 2 meter dude.", I explained, getting up. We were pretty much on eye height, so this was perfect.
Evan gently eyed me from head to toe, leaning in a bit. I did so too, relaxing before jumping when someone knocked on the door. "Jay? Can we talk?", someone called in.
Shit. That's Red.
I quickly shoved Evan into the wardrobe and closed it before fixing myself up a bit and heading to the door, opening it. "What's wrong, Red?", I asked, calm again.
Red eyed me a bit before looking past me. "Who were you talking to?", he asked sharper than intended. I raised an eyebrow. "I was on the phone with someone.", I explained. He frowned. "Hm... So that's a lie."
"Why would I lie?"
"Because your phone is in the infirmary."
I paused a bit before lowering my hand to my pocket, checking for that damn cellphone.
He was right, it wasn't on my person.
I took a deep breath before clearing my throat. "It doesn't matter, Red."
"Yes it does. I want to talk about this with you in private, can we go inside?", he asked, cool. I frowned a bit, but nodded. "Yeah, sure. Come in.", I answered, stepping aside.
Red came in and looked around before sitting down on the bed. "Can I ask you a personal question?", he started. I closed the door and nodded. "Go ahead."
"How much do you love Notch?"
I frowned, very confused by this. "I love him more than anything else in the world, Red. What sort of question is that?"
He threw me a glance I couldn't quite decipher. "Do you really tho?", he poked around. I got more and more confused. "Yeah, why wouldn't I?", I finally asked back, trying to get to the bottom of this.
Red smoothly got up and went to my wardrobe, opening it. "This is why I'm asking, Jay."
Evander looked kinda surprised, but got out of the wardrobe. "How did you know I was in there?", he asked. Red sighed weakly. "Jay has a habit of having his wardrobe clean, getting pissed off by stuff getting stuck between doors. Maybe you should've been more careful with your shoe laces. Speaking of which, Jay doesn't have shoes in his wardrobe.", he just mumbled before turning to me, disappointed.
Now I knew how he felt whenever I'm disappointed in his actions. I bit my lip and rubbed my arm, glancing away with my head lowered. "Sorry...", I whispered.
"Sorry?! Jay, do you know what this can lead to?!", Red finally started his tirade. All I could do was be silent and listen, like Notch last time.
"Jay, Notch is your husband! He isn't sane anymore, yeah, sure, I give you that, but he still loves and needs you! There's no way in hell he doesn't find out! I literally heard the action you two were doing in here, be glad that was only me who heard! Hero would've immediately come in and ripped you a new one, while Jura filmed the evidence for when Notch doesn't believe us. Is that why you constantly threaten him with leaving him? Because you get to fuck the person that nearly murdered Nightmare and brought Althea into massive trouble?!"
I whimpered softly. "Red, this isn't-"
"This isn't what it looks like?! Dad, I went through the same shit with Hero while he was still sane, now what do you think will happen when Notch, his mind broken and more powerful brother, most likely, will find out that you literally slept with Evander, a person he despises?! Notch wants to keep you, he made sure you saw that, he got himself nearly murdered because of you, and this is your only reply to that??", he kept going, pissed. No, he wasn't pissed.
He was disappointed that I let him down and got into this sort of danger.
Evan was about to defend me when he just got a hard slap from Red, shutting him up immediately. He rubbed the handprint on his cheek, understanding that this wasn't his turn to talk.
"Red, I just needed to blow off some steam.", I tried to defend myself, only to get a slap as well. "Explain that to Notch, Jay."
I panicked when he went to the door, opening it.
Hero stood there, having heard everything.
And next to him stood the one I betrayed.
I just wanted to sink into the ground at the sight of his expression, ashamed of myself.
