Jay refused to leave my side while I was stuck in the infirmary, with Zephyr always being by Nightmares' side. Althea and Cody were here too, latter was snuggled up to Jay softly. Bellatrix came to check on us every once in a while, but mainly on Nightmare. His injuries seemed extremely harsh in comparison to mine. I watched for a while before sitting up, slowly regaining my strength. It's been... Several weeks. 7 I think, and tomorrow they want to check if I can walk around by myself again. A soft sigh escaped Jay, making me look over. He seemed gloomy and hesitant. "Babe, what's wrong?", I asked gently, wanting to take his hand softly. He pulled away, avoiding eye contact. "Why do you not care about your own life...?", he asked, uneasy. I frowned a bit. "I do care about it, Jay." "But not enough so you'll stop getting into danger!" "I did it to protect you." "And that's your problem, Notch!" I paused, not knowing what to respond. I didn't understand what he meant. "What do you mean?", I eventually asked. He teared up a bit. "You don't care at all about your own self, Notch! You nearly got killed a bunch of times now! And this time you teleported us away instead of teleporting everyone, resulting in this!", he said, sounding really hurt. I let out a soft sigh. "She would-" "She wouldn't have followed us since her core was destroyed, she wouldn't have been able to teleport! What were you thinking?!" I went silent again, letting him continue his tirade. Saying I understood would only make him more pissed and more sad, so- "I'm breaking up." At that moment, my heartrate pretty much doubled and I looked at him, panicked. "W-Wait, don't, I can chan-" "Don't even try, Notch! You never did, and you never will! You don't care about your own life, I can't trust you with our son around! At some point he'll need your help, but when you're dead, that won't help either! It's better if we split paths now instead of having to do this the painful way later." "P-Please, don't...! I need you, don't leave me...!" I didn't know what to do anymore. My mind was going haywire, my body was shaking and I could barely breathe. The monitors on my bedside made those things even more obvious because it started beeping. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. 5 in one second. Jay glanced at it before looking back at me. "Calm down, this is the best for both of us." "T-THIS ISN'T GOOD FOR ANYONE!!!" Jay's eyed got cold. "Your behavior isn't good for me or our son. By now you're getting yourself more into danger than I even could. I saw your torn apart body, I don't want to repeat it, but have you die in my arms this time. I'm sorry." My world started to loose color again as the only thing that kept me stable got up and wanted to leave. I didn't even think, I just grabbed his hand and tried to follow, but collapsed before I even could. Jay crouched down to me, putting Cody onto a nearby chair. I was panicking, holding onto him tightly in an attempt to keep him, mumbling "Don't leave me" over and over again. I needed him, he doesn't even know how much I need him... I don't want to go back into the dark and colorless world... He forced me to look at him, flinching back a bit when he noticed my eyes having turned into a dull grey again. For a while he seemed unsure what to do, Bellatrix was already here again due to the heartrate monitor letting out a loud, long beep. I managed to free myself from it when trying to follow Jay... I clung to his hand, not letting go. "I need you, don't leave me..." "Why do you keep getting into danger, you're just as much able to die as we are!" I didn't reply, just hid in his hand with a whimper. Everything felt so cold all of the sudden, so empty... It was like I was caught in space, and there was no oxygen. I couldn't do anything anymore, my body was numb. Cody started crying and came over, cuddling me. Jay stared at me as well, more in fear than in anger now. "W-Why are you freezing...?", he mumbled a bit. Bellatrix noticed and immediately stepped in. "What the hell did you do, Jay?!" "I-I just said I'd break up if this continues to happen..." She crouched down next to us and grabbed the blanket from the bed, covering me with it. "You don't just say that while he's in this state, Jay!!", Bellatrix continued, trying to warm me up. So that's why everything got so cold... Zephyr came over to try and help too, Bellatrix asked him to grab some blaze rods from a nearby box. He rushed to do so, worried. I kept holding Jay's hand, trying to understand what just happened... Why am I getting frozen, that never happened before...? Cody snuggled up to me and Jay was completely helpless, just rubbing my cheek softly. He was still uneasy with what to do about this whole dilemma, so he couldn't really decide what to do. Zephyr soon returned with some rods and Bellatrix carefully put them under the blanket in hopes of warming me up again. I couldn't move, everything seemed so slow and cold by now. In a bit of pain I lowered my head a bit more, trying to relax. Maybe this is just my punishment... "Why did this happen?", an unfamiliar voice asked softly, sitting down with me. I felt his hand move down my chest to my heart, staying there. "I assume a curse...", Bellatrix answered. "Or his core got cracked as well, but then he'd be melting..." The hand got really warm and I calmed down a lot, feeling tired now. "Sleep, young one. Let my realm give you some sweet relief..." I wanted to stay awake, but gave in to the gentle, calming voice, resting in Jay's arms.
