"Wait, Ann Hopkins?" asked Steve, "are we talking about that one super-smart chick that goes to Hawkins high? The one who's like, a year older than everyone? Robin's friend?"

Dustin rolled his eyes, "how many Ann Hopkins do you know in Hawkins, Steve? Have some logic, will you?"

"Okay, but what does she have to do with all of this?" Steve replied, confused.

"She and Eddie are dating." Said Max from the backseat, "Jason probably thought she would know and forced her to follow him in his hunt."

"Wait, repeat that?" said Steve, mouth gaping. "Eddie the freak Munson, drug dealer slash high school repeater and Ann Hopkins, valedictorian candidate, super smart, with the nice car, are dating?" he exclaimed in disbelief.

"Yes! Eddie is like, super nice, is that so hard to believe?" Dustin responded.

"How does he have a girlfriend while I'm stuck here, girlfriend-less," Steve remarked, more to himself than to anyone else in the car. "Life is unfair."

Dustin and max ignored the older guy and just sat back as they made their way to the school.

"Lucas. Steal the keys when we leave the car once we get to the boathouse." Ann told him.

The other boys were getting stuff from the trunk while Lucas and Ann waited at the front.

"Why?" he asked her "what are you going to do?"

"If I had it my way, I'd run Jason over, but I'm trying to commit as little felonies as I can tonight. I'll get us out of here and to the school. So, you get the keys, and we ditch them, do you hear me?"

Lucas nodded, and the trunk slammed shut not long after. Jason picked up a stick and cleared the ground a little to draw on the dirt.

"So, if Sinclair's right, the freak is hiding here." The boy started explaining. "We move through the woods here together, then Patrick and Andy, you split up. Go around this way. Me, Sinclair and Ann, we keep going." He continued, drawing on the ground.

"Then we flank his ass from both sides." He ended his explanation with. "That freak won't know what hit him."

Everyone made their way through the woods, and when the group split in two, Sinclair bumped into Jason, sliding his hand in his pocket and grabbing the keys simultaneously so he wouldn't notice.

"Whoa, be careful, Sinclair," Jason said, raising his eyebrows. "The woods are dangerous, especially with that freak on the loose."

Once everyone was in the house, Lucas slid the keys to Ann, and the two took off sprinting into the woods, going back in the direction they had just come from.

"Run faster!" said Lucas, ahead of Ann. "They'll notice; it'll all have been for nothing!"

"I'm doing my best here, shithead! But, unfortunately, I'm not the one on the basketball team!" she replied, panting.

Lucas opened the driver's door and ran to the passenger side, sliding into his seat.

"Go, go, go, go!" he yelled, looking towards the forest.

"I'm starting the car!" she said, jamming the key into the ignition. The car started, and she reversed the thing, pulling back onto the road.

"Okay, direction Hawkins high now, right?" she asked, looking at Lucas, who was panting.

"Yeah, Hawkins." He repeated after her. "I can't believe we just did that."

"This is my first felony," Ann exclaimed, turning onto another street and further away from the boathouse. "I hope they moved Eddie."

"You think he's innocent then?" Lucas questioned Ann.

"He is. There's no doubt in my mind." Ann replied, a smile curling on her lips. "He's definitely not the kind of person who could kill."

The rest of the ride was silent, and once they made their way to the school, the duo had calmed significantly. Finally, they pulled the door open and ran through the corridors.

"Do you even know where they are?" asked Ann, pushing another door open as they ran.

They turned the corner, and everyone screamed as Steve Harrington held a long lamp. Dustin, Nancy, Robin and Max, the girl from the radio earlier, were standing behind him, all surprised at the duo's sudden appearance.

"It's me! It's us!" yelled Lucas, holding out his hands in front of him

"Drop the lamp, dude!" yelled Ann, shielding her head.

"Lucas? Ann?" asked Nancy while Steve was still getting over his shock, screaming at the two. "Jesus! What's wrong with you guys?"

"I could have taken you out with this lamp!" he added, still holding it up.

"that's why I'm telling you to drop it!" yelled Ann. "I want to get out of here with all of me, thank you very much!"

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry. We ran through all the school looking for you guys." Said Lucas, panting. "We've got a code red."

Steve looked at the two, a hand on his hip as he shook his head confusedly. "What?"

Lucas ignored him and walked towards Dustin, "I've been with Jason, Patrick, and Andy, and they've totally gone off the rails. They're trying to capture Eddie, and they thought Ann knew where he was, and they think now that you know where he is" taking a breath, he took a quick pause. "You're in terrible danger."

Ann looked up with her hands on her knees, "Eddie's in terrible danger, too."

Dustin looked at Lucas, "Alright, that definitely sucks, but we've got bigger problems than Jason right now," he told his friend, turning to look at max.

"What the hell is going on," asked Ann, standing straight now, as she stopped panting.
