"Miss Hopkins, your carriage awaits," said Eddie, grabbing her bag's strap from her shoulder. He'd seen her leaving her class and had just caught up to her.

The girl turned to look at him, confused before she realized who was standing beside her "Hey Eddie, you can give me my bag you know." She told him, rolling her eyes

"Let me be a good boyfriend," he said, a little loudly so that people around them would hear "sweetie pie?" he uttered, uncertain and the blonde next to him had to cover her mouth with her hand so that the laughter that was bubbling at the back of her throat wouldn't escape her lips.

Once they were far enough, she burst out laughing, wiping a stray tear away from her eye "sweetie pie? Really?" she asked him, smiling, "the best you could come up with?"

Eddie rolled his eyes at her and smiled, walking faster towards his beat-up van.

Once they were inside, he dug through his music and pulled a tape out, flashed her a Black sabbath tape and their songs played along as they rode towards Ann's home.

"I got my car taken away by my parents, but one day I'll drive you home. I love my car" Ann suddenly said as they neared her neighbourhood "a 1982 Porsche 944. My jewel." She told him, sighing.

Eddie whistled as he raised his eyebrows "That's a damn nice car you got, I've seen it in the parking lot earlier this year. why'd they take it away?" he asked her

"They took my keys the first time I told them I wanted to study English literature," she said, nodding. "Told me I'd get it back when I changed my mind." She said, "as if it would help me." She added, sarcastically.

Eddie pulled into the driveway and parked the car, taking out the black sabbath cassette and putting another band's tape in the player. Ann gathered her things and opened her door, getting out.

Eddie looked at her as she walked in front of the car and caught a glimpse of her father looking at them through the same window as yesterday.

Ann tapped on the window and Eddie rolled it down "lean down, dude" she said smiling. And she kissed his cheek, chuckling. "See you next time, ed" she called out to him as he shook his head and drove out of the driveway, a smile spreading on his face.

Anything good Ann had been feeling dissipated the moment she shut the big house's door behind her. Her father was already waiting for her in front of the stairs.

"I didn't break up with him." She told the man before he could even utter anything. And I won't, I have no reason to." she said, standing her ground.

The man took two big steps and grabbed her forearm with force, squeezing. The blonde girl yelped in pain as he forcefully dragged her up the stairs to the upper floor of the house. She let out a pained gasp once she hit the last step, as she stumbled on it because her father was walking too fast for her to follow.

The man opened her bedroom door with force and threw her into it, shutting it behind him. "I don't want to see you out of here until tomorrow, young lady. This is what happens when you don't listen to me."

Looking down at her arm, she traced the red mark, frowning. She was already sure it'd leave a mark the next morning, no matter if she ran it under cold water or not.
