"Can you please stop that, Steve?" Ann groaned from where she sat on the floor. "If I hear you tap your goddamn fingers one more time against the car, I'm going to go insane."

"Alright, it's been long enough," he said, ignoring Ann's comment as he opened his door and climbed out of the car.

"Steve, just give her some time, alright?" Lucas tried to reason with the older male.

"I have, all right Sinclair?" Steve said, and he looked even more stressed than the minute before. "I'm calling it, if she wants to get a lawyer, she can." He finally finished, walking towards Billy's grave, where max had said she was going.

Lucas and Dustin looked at each other as Ann got up. "Guys, checking up on her isn't the worst idea. I'll go after him to make sure he doesn't rush her or say anything stupid."

Jogging a little bit, she caught up to Steve. "She was going to read her letter, right? I was sure I could hear her earlier, maybe she just got done?"

Steve shook his head in disagreement. "When you've hung around these kids as I have, you develop a kind of sixth sense. Something's wrong, Ann. I'm telling you." He said, trying to look for max in the distance. "MAX!"

Steve's comment made Ann worry a tad more, and she cupped her hands over her mouth, yelling the girl's name too. "MAX! HELLO?"

"Hey, she's there," Steve said, putting a hand on Ann's forearm, and lowering her arm. "Max! time to giddy up, yeah?" he told the girl once they were right next to her, but the redhead didn't even react.

"Hey, max?" Ann said, crouching down to the girl's level.

It was like all of the air in Ann's lungs left her when she looked at max's eyes. they were almost rolled back and you could barely see her pupils.

"Max, Max," Steve said once he noticed too, and he started shaking the girl's shoulder. "Hey, max! MAX! wake up."

"Ann, you need to go ask Dustin to use that super walkie of his to reach the other girls and ask them what we need to fucking do!" Steve yelled anxiously as he shook max, trying to get her to snap out of the trance.

She ran closer to the car and waved frantically. "GUYS!" she called out, and the two boys ran towards her. She turned around and max was still trapped by vecna's curse. The two passed Ann and threw themselves at max.

Ann grabbed Dustin's arm and pulled him up, pushing him back towards the direction he had just come from. "GO! Call Nancy and Robin, go get them, they've to know what we need to do by now." She frantically said, pointing towards the car. The boy hesitated and Ann pushed him "GO! NOW!"

Ann could hear Dustin swear as he ran towards the car and she prayed that Nancy and Robin were out of the institution by now and that they would have answers. They needed answers, and fast.

Hands pulling at her hair, she could only look as Dustin screamed into that walkie-talkie of his, waiting for the girls to reply. She turned around, and the boys had stopped shaking max as much and had moved onto trying to talk her out of it.

"I've got it! I know what to do" Dustin yelled from afar, and Ann faced his way once again. He was carrying max's Walkman and tapes.

"what's her favorite song?" he exclaimed, spreading the tapes on the ground, and Ann understood what he was trying to explain. She untangled the headphone cord and put the headphones back onto max's head quickly as Dustin and Lucas yelled at each other, trying to find the tape.

"Now!" yelled Dustin, and Ann pressed play on the device.

Catching Ann off guard, max started levitating and everyone fell back. The four of them could only stare and cry out for her desperately as she levitated higher, and higher up into the sky.

It felt like hours before she fell and started thrashing around for a couple of seconds until she came back to her senses in Lucas' arms.
