"Not to be a wimp, but can I sit in the car?" robin asked, sighing, "'cause this is going to totally and royally suck."

"Why would it suck. Eddie's nice" Ann quipped from her seat against the window.

"Of course, you of all people would say that, you're in love with him!" exclaimed Dustin, laughing.

Ann sputtered and turned around to answer the kid, but robin spoke again. "I just can't stand to see those dull eyes of Eddie's break again. I really, really can't."

"His eyes won't be so dull once he sees Ann, Rob. And at least he can drink himself into feeling better." Steve said from besides a laughing Dustin.

"that's what my mom does" replied Max to Steve's comment. "So does my dad." Added Ann.

"Why don't we give it a trial then?" Robin proposed, not waiting for anyone to reply. "Hey Eddie, uh, good news first this time." She started off, "We got you some Dustin-approved junk food and that six-pack you requested."

"Oh yeah, and we found vecna" Robin continued "only the bad news is, he's in that other, darker, much scarier dimension that we told you about and the gate's closed, so we have no way of getting to him. Like he's entirely shut off to us, so basically, you're screwed, dude!"

"Maybe we don't put it like that?" Lucas proposed once Robin finished her rant.

"Robin, take a deep breath. We can phrase it differently and maybe try to give it more of a positive connotation, first off." Ann says, racing out to squeeze the short-haired girl's shoulder.

"Exactly. We're one step closer to finding vecna." Nancy adds to what Ann had just been saying. "That's what we say. That's what's important."

"See, Robin? Positive spin can make all the difference." Steve adds as he digs a chip out of the container he's holding and eats it.

Robin looks at him through the rear-view mirrors and almost rolls her eyes, sarcastically agreeing.

At the same time, Nancy notices something ahead and her eyes widen, "Oh shit" she lets out.

Everyone in the car sits up straighter, finally noticing the police blockage ahead. The atmosphere tenses up and as soon as Nancy parks, everyone rushes out of the car to see what's going on.

"The roane county line received a call, at around midnight, reporting a homicide out here on the lake." The Chief announced in front of the crowds and cameras. "Officer Callahan and I arrived first on the scene, and we made our way to the shore of lover's lake, about ten yards from the house you see behind me. It was there that we found the victim, an eighteen-year-old senior from Hawkins high, Patrick McKinney."

Lucas' face morphs into an expression of shock at the news, and max looks at him as she listens to the police statement being released.

"His limbs... his body, it was disfigured. Uh, in a manner similar to earlier this week's murder." Officer Powell continued "there was an eyewitness on the scene, and we have also identified a person of interest."

Robin grabbed onto Ann's shoulder as Officer Powel showed a picture to the cameras. Her hand flew to her mouth as her heart sank to the bottom of her stomach.

"Eddie Munson."
