My alarm wakes me up once again. I do the same routine as the day before. It's been about two days since I had Billy over. I heard the yelling again last night, but it was really late. I was half asleep.

Today, I wear baggy jeans with an oversized Mötley Crüe shirt. I call for Mateo once I've made him a bagel for school. I slip on my black converse and grab my walkman and skateboard. Mateo and I head to his bus stop.

"Hey, remember, what they say about you is never true. If they some stupid shi- uh, stuff like that again, tell them to buzz off," I say.

"Okay, thanks," he utters.

I nod and wave goodbye to him as he gets onto his school bus. I watch it leave and start to skate toward the school.

___

I skate toward Nancy and Steve like I do every day.

"Hey, Y/N!" Nancy greets.

"Hey, Nance," I reply.

"How was your first day with Hargrove, L/N?" Steve teases.

"What? How did you know that?" I question.

"Robin couldn't stop talking about it. She was making fun of you the whole time we were at work," he answers.

I roll my eyes and hear Billy's Camero pull in. This time it was parked closer to me so I could see the little sister more clearly. She has freckles and blue eyes like Billy. She begins to skate toward middle school like always. My eyes land on some girl walking up behind her, probably up to no good. The girl kicks Billy's sister's skateboard, and I rush to catch her. Just before she hits the ground, I grab her and lift her upright. I run to catch up to her skateboard and grab it.

"Are you okay?" I ask.

"Yeah, uh, I'm fine," she says.

"Good, here is your skateboard," I say, handing it back to her.

"Thanks. Uh, do I know you?" she asks.

"Uhm, no, I don't think so, but I know your brother. We're working on a project together," I remark.

"Oh, cool. So you're the girl who lives across the street?" she questioned.

"Yeah, that's me!" I smile.

"Cool, nice to meet you. The name's Max," she says.

"Cool. Y/N," I state.

She looks down at my skateboard and smiles.

"You skate?" she asks.

"Yeah! Been skating for a long time," I say.

"Cool, always nice to meet a fellow skater," she says.

"Yeah! Maybe I could teach you a few things sometime?" I suggest.

"Yeah, sounds cool," she agrees with a smile.

I nod and walk back to Steve and Nancy. I look at Billy and see him giving the death stare to the girl that kicked Max's skateboard. I hand Steve my skateboard and walk over to the girl. The closer I get to her the clearer I can see her smirk.

"You think that was funny? What'd she do to you?" I scolded.

"Just a way to get her hot brother to look at me," she says without shame.

"You want his dick so bad that you try to hurt his little sister?" I accuse.

"U- Uhm," she stutters.

She stays silent, likely realizing what she's doing is stupid. I push her against her car and her friends back up.
