Max holds out her arms, and I lean in for a hug.

"It's going to be okay. Your brother is going to be okay," I tell her.

She nods, and we lean away from each other. We get up and walk back to the group.

"No chance that thing will drive, huh?" Nancy says, pointing to the car El broke.

"We don't need it to drive," Jonathan grins. "We just need the ignition cable."

"Alright! Everyone, let's try and flip this car!" I announce.

We rush and position ourselves behind the car and start to push. Everyone groans and struggles for a while until we drop it, and the window breaks.

"Shit!" Dustin curses.

"Let me try," Eleven says.

"El..." Mike starts.

"I can do it," she says.

We move and stand behind her, watching as she lifts her hand to use her powers. The car slowly starts to lift. Unfortunately, the car drops again, and El gasps in exhaustion. I pat her on the back and give her a small smile.

We all get behind the car again and begin to push using chairs as leverage. The car lifts higher than before and finally flips back over.

"Yes!" I say.

Max gives me a high five, and we hug each other.

"Told you," Mike smirks. "Physics."

Jonathan and Nancy pop the hood, and I go to stand with Mike and Max.

"What's she doing?" Max questions.

I look to see what she is talking about and see El rummaging through the trash can. She takes out a coke can and places it on a ledge. She intensely stares at it, so I'm assuming she's trying to use her powers on it. We begin to walk toward her, and Mike calls out to her, interrupting her concentration.

"Are you okay?" he asks.

She looks at us with a worried stare and turns back to the Coke can. Suddenly, I hear stomping sounds in the distance. Max and I look up to see something huge walking on the roof through the skylight.

"Mike," Max says.

Mike looks up, and the glass starts to crack.

"Nancy!" he yells.

I grab Mike and Max's hands and lead them away. Mike grabs El's hand as we run and we hide behind a counter.

"Oh, fuck," I whisper.

I hear the Walkie-Talkie bleep and then Dustin's voice.

"Griswold family, this is Scoops Troop! Do you copy? Over!" Dustin says. "Griswold family, I repeat, this is Scoops Troop. Do you-"

The Mind Flayer grabs the Walkie-Talkie and throws it, causing it to break. Although it is broken, I can still hear Dustin speaking. It's just a little broken up.

"Please confirm your safety!" Dustin yells.

It let's out a loud roar, and I close my eyes in fear. I hear it stomping around the mall, and I realize my breathing has gotten heavier. Mike pops his head up from under the counter to see where it is at.

"It's turned away. If we go up the stairs now, we'll make it," Mike says.

"No, way, not with El's leg," Max rejects.

"We have to try," Mike insists.

"There's another way to get out," El whispers. "Through the Gap."

Mike peeks at the monster one more time to make sure it's still turned around.
