Before I start the chapter, be sure to follow me! Love ya!
___
I wake up and take a hot shower. I think about Billy's face last night. He looked different but the same. Weird.
When I finish up in the shower, I walk downstairs and see Max sitting on the couch, drinking orange juice.
"Hey, Max," I say.
"Hi," she smiles.
"Hungry?" I ask.
"No, your mom made me a pancake before she went to drop Mateo off at Mrs.Wheeler's house," she says.
"Oh," I respond.
I pop the bread in the toaster and wait for it to pop out again.
"What happened last night?" Max asks.
"A load of bullshit," I say.
Max chuckles and lays back down on the couch.
"I'll kick his ass if you need me to," she laughs.
"Please do," I laugh.
The toast pops up, and I spread butter on it. I take a bite, and Max sits up.
"Wanna go out to skate?" she asks.
"Sure, let me finish eating first," I say.
She nod,s and I hurry up and eat the other toast. We make our way outside with our boards and begin to skate around. She attempts to do another trick, but it doesn't seem to be working. I decide to let her figure it out as I continue to skate around.
"Shit," Max groans.
I look over to see her board has slipped from under her. Luckily, she caught her balance, but the board continues to roll away.
"You okay?" I ask.
"Yep," she answers.
The board stops rolling, and I look up to see it's in the hands of Eleven. What's she doing here? She looks a bit angry, so that can't be a good thing that she's walking toward us.
"Hi," she says to Max.
"Hi?" Max answers, confused.
"Can we talk?" El says.
"Uhm," Max starts.
Max looks at me and I shrug.
"I'll go inside, then," I say.
"No, you too," El utters.
"Oh, okay," I chuckle nervously.
"Come over to my house," Max says.
___
"And then he said he- he missed me. And then he just hung up," El says.
"He's a piece of shit," Max snaps.
"What?" El questions.
"Mike doesn't have jack shit to do today, and his nana is obviously isn't sick. I guarantee you he and Lucas are playing Atari right now," Max says.
"But friends don't lie," El frowns.
"Yeah, well, boyfriends lie. All the time," I say.
El looks at me and raises an eyebrow.
"Don't you have a boyfriend?"
"Not anymore," I smirk.
"Let's go to Starcourt and go shopping," Max grins.
