25: Never Have I Ever

I play a sequence of chords that I made up on my guitar. I close my eyes and enjoy the sounds when suddenly I hear a voice.

"What song is that? It sounds nice," Billy asks.

I open my eyes and gasp at his presence. I look at my window to see it opened. I roll my eyes and smile.

"I made it up. It's not a song," I reply.

"Really?" he smiles.

"Yeah."

I begin strumming the chords again, and he watches. That's when I get the brilliant idea to teach him the guitar. I stop playing and put my guitar on his lap. I sit down next to him and wait for him to pick it up.

"What?" he questions.

I set the guitar up in his hands.

"I'm gonna teach you," I smile.

"Uh, okay," he replies.

I teach him the names of the chords and each note on the guitar. He had trouble remembering the name of the strings, so I decided to teach him what my brother taught me.

"The Chords are E, A, D, G, B, and E. If it helps you remember, think of this: Eddie ate dynamite goodbye, Eddie," I explain.

He nods, and I teach him the chords I was just strumming. He messes up and begins to get frustrated, but I tell him to relax and to remember that he's doing great for the first time. 

Eventually, he gets it down and, he looks very proud of himself. 

"Yeah, I did that," Billy boasted.

I laugh and nudge him on the shoulder. He smiles and places the guitar back on the wall. He sits down next to me again and places a kiss on my lips. He seems to be in a good mood today.

"Want to come with me to pick up Max at the arcade?" he asks.

"Sure!" 

I walk downstairs with him, and he says hello to my mother. She waves at him, and we get into his Camaro. He blasts music, and eventually,y we pull into the parking lot. Max walks outside, and her face lights up when she sees me. She gets in the backseat and sets her skateboard down.

"Hey!" she says to me.

"Hello, Madmax," I reply.

"Hey, Billy," she says.

"Hey, Max," he replies.

We drive back home, and we all sit and watch TV while passing a bag of chips around.

"Want to play Never Have I ever?" Max asks.

"I'm down," I reply.

"Why not," Billy sighs.

We all sit in a circle and wait for Max to come up with one.

"Never have I ever... walked around the house naked."

I raise my hand, and so does Max, but Billy keeps his hand down.

"You've walked around here naked?" Max laughs.

"Yeah, it's freeing."

I laugh, and now it is my turn.

"Never have I ever... used somebody else's toothbrush."

We all raise our hands and chuckle. Now it's Billy's turn.

"Never have I ever got knocked out."

Billy and Max raise their hand, but I don't.
