TW: Dissociation

I toss and turn all night. I should've just returned the textbook at school in homeroom. I get ready for school, get Mateo breakfast, and go to school.

I take my place next to Robin as usual, and she talks about random things like she always does.

I find myself to be spacing out, though. Billy probably isn't going to work with me anymore on this project, so I'll just start doing it myself.

"Earth to Y/N?" Robin calls, waving in front of my face.

"Oh, yeah, what's up?" I say.

She rolls her eyes and grabs my hand.

"What's wrong?" she asks.

"Nothing, why would something be wrong?" I answer.

"You just seem so distant," she observes.

Shivers run down my spine, my cheeks go cold, and my hands become numb.

___

"What do you want? Can't you see I'm about to go on a hot date?" my older brother snaps.

"I know. I was just hoping we could talk?" I ask.

"I'd rather not. I don't want to have your words in my head as I get laid tonight," he complained while checking himself out in a mirror.

"I just feel like you've grown so distant," I state.

"I don't give a shit. Let me tell you something. That's called growing up. You may want to start that process," he growls.

"I hope I never grow up at all," I sighed.

" Do me a favor Y/N, don't ever come to me with that bullshit again. Understand?" he scolded.

I nod my head and turn around. I feel his cold hand on my shoulder, and he forces me to turn around.

"Say you understand," he spat.

"I understand," I say.

His fingers let loose of my shoulder, and I run fast out of his room and into mine. I slam the door and fall against it. I feel the salty tears on my face and try to take deep breaths. That's when I feel it. I pay attention to the door. The texture, how cold it is, the color.

"I am here," a wise voice says in my head.

I grab a sticky note and write down what it said. I stick it on my closet door and lay down on my bed.

___

"Y/n!" Mr.Brown calls.

When did Mr.Brown get here?

"Yes?" I answer.

"Are you paying attention?" he asks.

I look around and finally realize I'm in my last class of the day. Billy is sitting in his seat beside me and looking at me with a confused expression.

"Sorry, Mr.Brown," I apologize.

"Do you need to head to the nurse?" he asks.

"No, I'm fine," I respond.

He nods and continues the lesson. Did I blackout or something? I don't remember anything before this class. I look up at the clock to see that class is over in five minutes. I spaced out the entire day?

I pay attention to what's left of the lesson, and when the bell rings, I hurry out to my locker. I grab my skateboard and make my way out to the parking lot. I throw my skateboard down and begin to cruise out.
