"Hey, can I come over? Billy is going on some stupid date tonight, and he's going to leave me here," Max asks.
I feel a hint of sadness, but then remember that he's not my problem anymore. He's the other girl's problem now. Good luck.
"Yeah, come on over," I respond.
"Cool, be over in a minute," she chuckles.
I hear Billy's Camaro turn on, and Max flips him off as she walks across to my house. He glares at her and then at me. He winks with his annoying smirk and drives off. What an asshole.
I close the door and look at Max.
"Are you hungry? Have you eaten?" I ask.
"I could eat," she smiles.
"Cool, what would you like?" I respond.
"Can you make a grilled cheese?" she asks.
"Yeah, of course," I smile.
I grab the bread and turn on the stove.
"Yesterday Dustin came back," Max states.
"What! He did?" I ask.
"Yeah, he really needs to give you a walkie," she laughs.
"Yeah, seriously."
"Apparently, he has a girlfriend now," she says.
I choke on my saliva, and Max laughs at me.
"Dustin has a girlfriend?" I gasp.
"Yeah, her name is Suzie. I personally don't believe it, but who knows," Max says.
"I believe it. I don't think Dustin would tell you guys he has a girlfriend, just to lie. He's never lied about it before," I say.
"True," she says.
I take her grilled cheese off the stove and put it on a plate. I slide the plate toward her, and she begins to eat the grilled cheese.
"You know what we should do?" she starts.
"What?" I question.
"We should go roller skating," she says.
"Like, right now?" I ask.
"Yeah! It'd be fun," she smiles.
I think about it and nod to myself.
"Alright. I'll go on only one condition," I start.
"That is?"
"I can pick out your outfit," I chuckle.
"Deal," she giggles.
I nod and smile.
"I'll be back I'm going to go change," I say.
She gives me a thumbs up, and I go upstairs to change.
