This is our second night in a row having a sleepover. I pick up the phone, dial my house number, and wait for my mother to pick up.

"Hello?" my mother answers.

"Hey, mother. I just wanted to let you know I'm not coming home tonight. Another sleepover," I sigh.

"Oh, okay. Don't you need to come home for new clothes?" she asks.

"Oh, crap. I forgot, I'll be over later to get some," I say.

"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow," she sighs.

"See ya," I respond.

I hang the phone up and walk back to see Max holding up a Wonder Woman comic and a Green Lantern comic.

"Which one?" she asks El.

"I don't know," El responds while getting into Max's bed.

"Hey, there's nothing to worry about anymore, okay?" Max assures.

I sit down on the bed and sigh.

"You too?" Max questions.

"I don't know Max, I just feel like something is off. Since when did Billy ever speak like that?" I question.

"I don't know. He's probably just trying to seem like a good guy in front of Heather's parents," she says.

"Yeah, maybe," I sigh.

"It doesn't make sense," El says.

"What doesn't make sense?" Max asks.

"Heather. The blood. The Ice," El states.

"Heather had a fever, so she took a cold bath, but she's better now," Max says.

"She needed a bath so cold that she needed ice?" I question.

"That has to be it," Max asserts. "I don't know where that blood came from, but...we saw her. We both saw her. She's totally fine."

"What about Billy?" El questions.

Her question sends shivers down my body even though I'm not cold. What if he isn't okay?

"What about him?" Max asks.

"He seemed wrong," El sighs.

"Wrong is kind of like his default," Max says. "But it's nice to know he's not a murderer because that would've totally sucked."

El chuckles and I force a giggle. I know there's something wrong with him. The night he was with me he started acting weird. Meaner. I never thought he'd reach this point, but he's starting to remind me of my brother. Mean and weird. My thought becomes interrupted by El speaking.

"Who...is that?" El asks, pointing to the Wonder Woman comic.

"See, this is why you can't hang out with Mike all the time," Max chuckles. "This is Wonder Woman AKA Princess Diana."

I watch as El cuddles up next to Max as Max is about to explain the comic to her.

"She's from paradise island, which is like, this hidden island where there are only woman Amazon warriors," Max explains.

I faintly hear the radio as I slowly start to wake up. The more I begin to wake up, the more I realize that it's Lucas speaking into the walkie-talkie.

"I repeat, this is a code red. Max, do you copy?" Lucas calls out. "This is a code red!"

"Shut. Up," Max snaps.
