Mateo and I are eating breakfast downstairs while talking about school when I hear a knock at the door. I open it to see Billy standing there with a toothpick in his mouth.
"Hey, I was wondering if you wanted a ride to school today?" he asks.
I look behind him to see Max across the street waving a thumbs up and nodding her head yes.
"Sure," I laugh.
Billy looks behind him and Max immediately stops. He rolls his eyes and turns back to me.
"Is it okay if we take my little brother to his bus stop? It's down the street," I ask.
"Sure," he responds.
I nod and Mateo puts his plate in the sink. He grabs his backpack and smiles. I grab my skateboard and my bagel.
"What do you need your skateboard for? I'm taking you to school and most likely bringing you back," Billy questions.
"I have a funny feeling I'm going home early today," I smirk.
He looks confused but I ignore it. I jerk my head toward Billy's car and Mateo walks to it. I follow close behind him and hop into the passenger seat. Max takes a seat in the back and Billy starts the car.
"What do you mean by that?" he asks.
"You'll see," I respond.
Billy drives us down the street and Mateo hops onto his bus. He waves goodbye to Billy, Max, and me and when drive to the school.
___
Billy pulls into his usual parking spot and I give Max a high five.
"See you later, Max," I say.
"See ya," she responds.
I get out of the car and Max skates off. Billy and I head to first period and I sit in between him and Robin.
"Hey Y/n!" Robin says.
"Hey," I respond.
"Have you finished your project yet? It's due next week and my partner and I haven't gotten anywhere," she sighs.
"What do you mean? You haven't been working on it?" I question.
"No, I have, she hasn't. It's so stupid," she answers.
"That sounds tiring," I say.
"Believe me, it is," she states.
"We're like half way done," I say.
"Better than nothing," she sighs.
"Mhm," I agree.
____
It is now lunch and I take my skateboard with me. It's time. I spot Billy across the cafeteria looking at me with a confused facial expression.
"What are you doing?" he mouths.
I shrug and sit down next to Steve and Robin and Steve's other friends.
"Why do you have your skateboard?" Steve asks.
"Going home early," I state.
"What? You can't leave by yourself Y/N," Robin questions.
"Yeah, exactly," Steve agrees.
"We'll see. I just..." I trail off.
There she is. That fucking bitch is right there. I stand up and walk over to her table. Her and her friends are laughing at me as I walk over.
