It took me long to notice

That after all these years

You're the only one I miss

Dazai's POV

"Ah... Watch out!!" Before I had even time to react, I ended up bumping on a female from the streets as I was running away from an enemy that had shot me in the stomach. I wasn't on a mission at that moment, but it seems they had recognized me from a previous operation that went terribly wrong. We both ended up on the ground, my blood staining her clothes, and her fragile body ending up under me.

"Urgh... What the..." She didn't dare move on with the sentence. Her eyes shot open as they saw me and my bloody hands on top of her, more startled than afraid. She then looked at the direction from which I was coming and, hearing voices approaching us, she did something I would have never guessed.

Unable to move at that point, she grabbed my arm and placed it around her shoulder, helping me walk and hide behind a tree. Being careful not to hurt me, she helped me lean on it as I slowly sat down, pressing the bullet hole on my stomach. I hissed in pain, but talked to her anyway.

"Hey, when somebody sees a guy like me half-dead in the middle of the night, they usually freak out and scream." I half-joked as she took off her jacket at placed it on me, covering me with it. She said nothing and, just moved her index finger in front of her mouth, telling me to stay silent as she raised her head to see whether those men saw us or not.

At first, her body was slightly trembling, but, the moment she caught a glimpse of two figures following the traces of blood I had left behind, something inside her seemed to click.

Watching how her eyes grew darker, she began walking towards the direction of that special ability user and the armed men that had hurt me that badly. "Hey, don't you just ignore me and welcome them!" I yelled with the remaining strength I had. "Are you nuts?" I almost whispered that part, in which I stared at her figure, which was going towards those men that had taken so many lives with their hands we couldn't even track them all.

"Somebody's there!!" One said, rapidly spotting her despite how dark the night was. In fact, only a couple lampposts gave light to the scene. Maybe it was only my imagination, but I could sense a threatening aura coming out of her body. As if she was about to crush them. "Hey, kid, what are you doing here this late? Don't you know a stranger could try hurting you?"

"Tell me," she spoke with a calm but surprisingly soft voice, which reminded me of a mother's protection. "Who was the boy that was running away?"

"He's someone bad. A filthy criminal." They replied as if she was a child. The man with a gun on his back came closer to her and, preparing himself to shoot her, he kept talking, probably expecting to get some information about my whereabouts. "Your clothes are stained with blood. Did you perhaps help him escape?"

"Were you the ones who hurt him?"

"He's nothing but scum, does that matter?"

Faster than I had ever seen, she got hold of the gun and, rapidly throwing it away from him, she punched him straight in the face, causing his nose to bleed.

"What the hell do you think you're doing!?" he angrily yelled as his partner activated a special ability based on freezing powers. In a blink of an eye, the floor got frozen, and snow started falling from the sky. He created some stalagmites, which she surprisingly managed to dodge. "Get her, Yuki!!"

"You're nobody to say if somebody is scum or not." She simply replied as she run straight at the ability user. "Especially you. You're part of that organization that has been kidnapping children to sell them in the black market, aren't you? I've heard the rumors about this special ability. That is sure despicable. So much you don't even have the right to be called human being anymore." At that moment, I wondered how she was aware of that. She wasn't part of the Port Mafia, so was it possible she belonged to a different organization we didn't know of?
