There are monsters in me
Battles I can't win
People I still long to see
Yet they're too scared of what's within
Chuuya's POV
Using my gravity to walk on the snow is sure useful now. To be honest, going to Kera's apartment is way easier that way and, in less than fifteen minutes I spot the block of flats, rapidly averting my gaze towards the door of her home.
However, when I do, I see a dark figure looming nearby. I rub my eyes, wondering if it was just my sight playing dirty tricks and, effectively, the moment I open them again, the shadow is gone.
I walk upstairs, watching out not to slip with the frozen staircase, and when I have her door in front of me, I knock with my knuckles.
"Kera, are you in there? I called you multiple times, but you didn't answer the phone. That's not like you. Is everything alright?" I wait a minute for a reply, two... The third one makes me impatient and, knowing where she keeps the spare key hidden, I unlock the apartment and step inside, worried that something bad might have happened to her.
What if her injuries got infected? What if she was unconscious? I can't stop thinking about the worst-case scenario and, in the end, I storm into her room, only to see she is not there.
"Kera?" I ask, opening every door of the house. In the end, the bathroom is the only place left to check and, when I hear a hiss coming from inside, I slam the door open, only to see her in underwear, changing the bandages of her arm and letting me see the stitched stab wound on her forearm.
Time seems to freeze and, for several seconds, both our faces blush intensely. When she notices, she clears her throats, making me snap out of it.
"Chuuya, p-please wait for me in the living room..." she mumbles, causing me to rapidly avert my gaze as I apologize. "Give me five minutes."
"I-I didn't mean... I saw nothing, okay?" I tell her, stammering every two letters, getting on my nerves. Mainly because I saw not her body as a female but all the scars she had gained throughout the years. Including the ones from the day she joined the Port Mafia.
How didn't I notice how many times she had been on the verge of death? And all because she was tied up to this side of the city. And because she showed a hidden potential that Mori wanted to boost.
I sit on the couch and, as she has promised, she shows up in five minutes, wearing a clean working outfit and not bothering to use the sling anymore despite how recent the Red Brick House operation was.
"Good morning Chuuya." She says as she walks towards the open kitchen, turning on the cook and preparing some coffee. Since she pretends nothing happened, I will do the same. "Tell me, would you like some coffee? Or do you perhaps prefer tea?"
"C-Coffee is fine." I stammer, looking at the white rug and nervously moving my legs.
We remain like that for several minutes and, once the coffee is ready, she sits next to me and hands me a cup.
"T-Thanks." I tell her as I take a sip. It's bitter, but at the same time sweet, just like I like it. "I-I'm sorry for entering without permission, b-but I was calling you and you weren't answering... You got me worried..."
"You called me?" She then stands up, leaving her cup on the coffee table and, after checking something inside her bedroom and the bathroom, she returns with a pensive expression. "Sorry, Chuuya, it seems I've lost it." She explains, sitting again and sighing deeply.
