There is no agony like watching how someone

Who protected you and looked so kind

Is now the one holding the gun

Ready to shoot you. Damn, you were too blind!

Your POV

"Chuuya, come outside with me for a second." I say as he finishes the sentence, dragging him outside as he seems to be lost in thought.

"Di-Did he just say what I think he said!?" he suddenly bellows, clenching his fist and slamming it against the wall. "He's just playing with us!! There's no wa-"

"Chuuya." I pronounce every word of his name, finally catching his attention and, after inhaling deeply, I open the laptop and show him something that Mori hadn't told us. "He doesn't look like he is lying. And the way he got captured is rather... uncommon." In the video recorded by one of our cameras, we see how the man walked towards the entrance of headquarters, unarmed, and shouted that he had information he was not willing to give without a deal. A deal with a female executive.

"This doesn't add up at all!!!"

Chuuya is right, it doesn't. But still, there's something about this that I don't like one bit.

"This might be a trap. Be careful." I warn him, closing the laptop and stepping with him inside. This time, I am the one making the questions. "Now, Mizuki, would you care to explain why somebody would set their eyes on me? And more specifically, why now?"

"You seemed cleverer, woman." He scoffs, averting his gaze and starting to play with a ring on one of his fingers. "You see, I already told you. If you want more information, I want something in exchange."

Chuuya and I make eye contact for a second, wondering what we should do and, after a minute, we both nod in agreement.

"What do you want from us?"

"Easy. A meeting."

"A... meeting?"

"Yes, a meeting. Tonight at the forbidden forest, near the old hut. 3 a.m." Everything has less and less sense. And, at some point, I don't even know whether he is just a crazy man or he's a genius that has become a mere puppet. Maybe both. "You and you alone, woman."

"Kera..." Chuuya starts, and I know what he's about to say.

"Fine." I spout, approaching him. "Now, answer my questions. Why me? Why now?"

"Well, let's just say somebody believes you're the key to the destruction of this city and the world itself as we now know. And he's seen the chance to make it happen faster now that you're fragile of mind and body. If you break, that item will be easier to find."

"What... do you mean?"

"Aww, look at you!! Trying to pretend you didn't get back what you lost four years ago." My blood runs cold all of a sudden, with no warning. I feel oxygen leaving my lungs, my heart, my mind. A cold sweat takes over me and I feel like throwing up.

He knows.

He knows Dazai is alive. How? Why? That's the only possibility.

"All your past, every inch of it will come after you, woman. And we'll make sure it destroys you."

"Kera, are you alright?" Chuuya suddenly inquires, placing his palm on my shoulder, making me turn around to face him. "You're really pale."

"I-It's nothing." I reassure him, grabbing the man by the collar.

"Ah, I see. Don't need to worry, woman. He will be dead again soon enough. And it will be your fault. The same way this guy will join him in the pits of hell." With that, I punch him in the face, breaking his nose, and causing him to lose consciousness, little by little.
