It's hard to admit

That the worst of me

Can make me defeat

These demons I see

Your POV

"...book... awakening..."

"Dangerous... destructive wave..."

"...kids?... test subjects?"

"Yes. I have other experiments to conduct."

"I'll be leaving then, doc."

As time passes, their voices get clearer and clearer, and, surprisingly, I feel a bit of energy returning to my veins. I vaguely open my eyes, only to realize I have been tied up in a stretcher and changed into a hospital gown, which is stained in red right where I was hit by the teleporting ability. They haven't bothered treating me, probably because this way I won't last much if I try to fight back.

I attempt to move my hands, but, like I had expected, they have tied all my limbs so I don't move.

"Ah, I see you have woken up, Kera." A familiar voice speaks before appearing before my eyes.

"And I see you are alive."

"I never expected you to go on a rampage and kill all members of Endless Void over that picture."

"And I never thought you'd be capable of betraying your own daughter, but here we are."

"Ouch. That hurt my heart, you know?"

"Heart? I thought you got rid of it when you started the business." I scoff, looking around and wishing I see the kids. However, they are not in the same room I'm in.

"I perceive a lot of hate in your voice. What's wrong?"

"You can't seriously be asking me this."

"Well," As he speaks, I see him press a button of a remote control, activating a red light, and grabbing a syringe afterwards. "To my eyes, what I have done to you is not as bad as you think. I did it all for your sake, curse vessel."

"So, you don't even have the guts to say I am your daughter!?" I furiously yell, trying to get rid of all the chains restraining me. However, he rapidly injects me some liquid on my arm, and my strength seems to temporarily fade away.

"You and I sharing the same blood doesn't mean you're my daughter." His eyes grow cold and, then, he approaches me with a sadistic expression I had never seen before. "You were chosen to be the cursed vessel, the connection to 'the book'. Don't you get it? That is the only purpose of your existence. It's one of the greatest honors."

I know that arguing with him won't solve the problem. And so, I take a deep breath and, thinking twice which questions I am going to ask him, I speak.

"Where are the kids? What did you do to them?"

"Oh, you mean the lab subjects? Don't worry, I will be bringing them here soon enough."

Right after he finishes the sentence, two figures cross the door. The Russian man and the clown

"Ah, Dostoyevsky. I thought you would never come. I need you here to kill her before everything gets destroyed."

"Doc, what about me? Without my teleportation we could also be in danger. I am here to save the day!!"

"So true, Gogol." He simply agrees, getting hold of a scalpel rubbing it with a purplish liquid. It looks like poison. "Oh, and since you are witnessing the process, please inject to her that syringe on the other desk once you see her power becomes unstable. We will begin the summoning right away."
