All my life I missed you

Even when you were around

I have loved you, I still do

That's what makes me trust this bound

Dazai's POV

"Wake up, you two troublesome blockheads!!!" a really loud scolding from my colleague Kunikida seems to deafen me as I abruptly wake up, the same moment I slide off bed and fall into the ground.

"Ouch..." I say while rubbing my butt, looking at him with a mistrusting glare. "Kunikiiiida, you're so mean!!"

"I'm not mean, but because of you two lovebirds' nap I already have a huge delay to compensate in my perfect schedule!!"

"What time is it for you to say that, anyway?" I inquire, raising an eyebrow as I clumsily stand up.

"7.05 a.m."

"Good night, then." I say, rolling back inside bed and covering myself with the blankets.

Kunikida becomes petrified for several seconds. One, two, three, four...

The fifth he grabs the blankets and pulls it towards him, in hopes to make me fall. However, I grab onto Kera's waist, who has been witnessing everything a bit perplex.

"Kera!! Please save me!!" I tell her. The moment I close my mouth, though, I accidentally loosen my grip on her and end up falling flat on the ground. Again. I stand up and rub my nose, looking at Kunikida with an annoyed expression, but he only sighs as he steps out the room, telling us to be ready since the President is waiting for us at the Agency.

I avert my gaze towards Kera, and she seems to be already completely awake, changing her clothes in front of me and totally ignoring my presence, just like she did when we were partners. Her jeans make her look even more mature, and her white bra makes me realize she has become even prettier throughout the years.

"I see you still stare like before." She smirks, sticking out her tongue. "Perv."

"Ah, my dear Kera, I cannot let such beautiful view go to waste." However, when I say these words, she looks at herself, touching her neck with the tips of her fingers and caresses herself, slowly, going through all the scars she obtained when she was kidnapped by Endless Void, and others she gained when we went on missions together. "Hey..." I want to recomfort her, to tell her she has survived all that, but she doesn't let me.

"Dazai..."

"Yes?"

"Don't give me that glare." She warns me, turning around. "I know what you think I am thinking, but I hate it when you take pity on me."

She doesn't utter another word and, silently, she steps out of her bedroom, forcing me to follow her.

Once outside the apartment, Kunikida is angrily waiting for us, but instead of scolding me for the pettiest of thigs like he always does, he speaks calmly to Kera.

"The little brats are at the Armed Detective Agency. We want to talk to you in there about what is going to happen to them."

She simply nods and, just like that, the three of us walk back to the Agency, me wondering how she can be so calmed. She just got kidnapped and almost killed. And, if she survived, shouldn't she have reported to Mori straight away? Unless...

That was the only possible option.

"Hey, Kera." I whispered to her the moment Kunikida was checking his notebook a bit ahead of us. "Did Mori-san-?"

"He did. But if I don't return and he discovers I'm alive..." She simply replies, looking at the sky. She seems to be considering something, but her mind is unreachable to me. No matter how hard I try, I can't never really tell what's going on inside her mind.
