We followed them into the forest, but for a long time we couldn't find them.
"Frodo? " I came closer to hobbit, to which he was scared. "It's okay, it's just me. " I raised my hands in a defensive gesture. "And where's Boromir? " I asked.
"He wanted to take the ring away from me." He said, frightened.
"It's all right now. " I knelt beside him.
"Do you also want to take it? " He asked looking into my eyes and then showed the ring. "Would you destroy it? "
I looked at him. It's hard to believe that it's such a small thing, and it can do such great damage. I heard voices that got louder with each passing moment.
"Everyone you love is dying..." I heard Azog's voice, to which I shuddered.
I heard people screaming and a voice calling me by name. With each passing moment, I was tempted to take Frodo's ring and take it for myself, but I didn't.
"I promised something. " I looked at young Baggins and then took him by the hand and closed the ring in it. "We're here to guard you, Frodo, to protect you. To help you accomplish your mission. Would I destroy it? Yes, and I would help you reach Mount Doom. "
In response, Baggins sent me a slight smile, which I reciprocated. Suddenly, I heard someone's footsteps. I grabbed my sword and swung, and the attacker blocked the blow.
"Itt's me! " Kili shouted.
"Sorry. " I said right away and lowered my sword.
After a while, Aragorn joined us. He wanted to say something, but suddenly we heard someone's horn. Boromir's horn. Kili and I exchanged glances.
"We'll go to help him, and you stay with Frodo. " Kili said, to which Aragorn nodded, and after a few moments we ran in the direction from which the sound of the horn came.
The way was blocked by orcs, so the swords went into motion. Kili and I fought shoulder to shoulder and with each passing moment we tried to reach Boromir. After a few moments, Legolas, Gimli and Aragorn also appeared. Together, in a few minutes, we defeated the attackers and ran to Boromir.
We arrived at the scene when the leader of the orcs shot our friend with a bow.
"No! " I shouted and ran into battle, and right behind me the others.
We fought hard to reach the wounded as soon as possible, but the orcs made it difficult for us.
"Boromir! " I heard someone's scream and looked towards Boromir. Orc had already fired his second arrow at him, but man didn't give up and still defended Merry and Pippin. Unfortunately, a moment later, in front of my eyes, the enemy fired a third arrow. Boromir fell to his knees, and orc approached him to finish his work. I also didn't see halflings anywhere. Probably orcs took them. Now I was running as fast as possible towards Boromir to help him, but suddenly I felt someone grab me by the scruff of the neck and after a while I flew two meters into the air. Three orcs came up to me and wanted to kill me, but they bitterly regretted it. I looked again towards Boromir. Aragorn defended him from the fourth shot, and Kili ran to help him in the fight against orc. At that time, I ran to Boromir lying on the ground.
"They took the little ones... " Boromir exhaled. "Frodo. Where's Frodo?"
"Shh... " I tried to calm him down. I wanted to take out the arrow, but he forbade me.
After a while, the other comrades ran up to us.
"Where's Frodo? " Boromir repeated.
"I let Frodo go. " Aragorn replied.
"Then you did what I couldn't " Dying man said. "I tried to take the ring from him... "
"The ring is beyond our reach now. " Aragorn said.
"Forgive me... " Boromir entered into his words. "I didn't see it. I've failed you all... "
"No, Boromir. You fought bravely. " Arathorn's son said calmly. "You've kept your honor."
Boromir, like me, forbade Aragorn to take out the arrow.
"It's over... The world of men will fall. And all will come in darkness... And my city to ruin."
"I don't know what strength is in my blood... But I swear to you, I'll not let the White City fall...
"None of us will let that happen. " I supported Aragorn.
"Nor our people fail... " Aragorn shifted his gaze from me to Boromir.
"Our people..." Boromir repeated. "Our people..." Said, and he wanted to reach for his sword, but it was too far away, so I handed it to him. He smiled at me palely, then put weapon on his chest and turned to Aragorn again. "I would've followed you, my brother... My captain... My king... " He said and after a few moments he died.
I closed my eyes and felt salty drops run down my cheeks.
"Be at peace..." Aragorn whispered. "Son of Gondor... "

We took Boromir's body, put it on one of our boats, and let the water take it. Frodo and Sam were already on the other side of the river and heading for Mordor. Merry and Pippin were kidnapped by the orcs... And we, lost another friend.
"Frodo's fate is no longer in our hands. " Aragorn said sadly.
"Then it has all be in vain." Gimli added. "The Fellowship has failed."
"No. " Kili interjected, which we all looked at him. "Merry and Pippin need us... Let us remain faithful to our comrades. We hold true to each other." Added and glanced at me.
I sent him a slight smile and then came closer and took him by the hand.
"I agree. " I said.
"We will not abandon Merry and Pippin to torment and death." Aragorn supported us after a while. "Not while we have strength left." He smiled. "Leave all that can be spared behind. We travel light. Let us hunt some orcs." Added and ran deep into the forest, and we just behind him.
We'll not leave our friends in need.

What do you think of Boromir's character? Do you like him?
I personally think he had a pretty tough character, but he wasn't that bad. He cared about his family and the good of his people and the kingdom. He died with honor like a hero.
What do you think?
