The magic of humans are that they are so naïve.
The wonderful part of life is that in the end everything dies, except for legends.

They can fight for so long, they can battle with the spring of a trap, or a flick of a dagger. But every time someone will drop dead, every time someone will bleed dry. And every time some victory is won.
And that victory burns like fire.
Whether that's a witch in flames but still alive. Whether that's a hitman with poison but still on the run. Whether that's a simple girl who rose from nothing to something with only the lick of her tongue, the murmur of words, and the anger burning in her eyes.
Don't be so naïve, the shadows whispered.
Don't be so naïve, the wind hushed.
Don't be so naïve, the girl cooed.
Don't be so naïve; the power curled in delight.
