When we were younger (revised version)

When we were younger,

You used to hold my hands.

Walk me to and from school,

And our grip still stands.

When we were younger,

You would always look at me,

And you never looked away.

I was all you could see.

When we were younger,

I would hold you in my arms,

And I'd never let you go.

You laughed as I protected you from harm.

When we were younger,

You always had a bandage with you,

I bled, but you were there.

With string, that's all you did, you sew.

But now we are no longer young,

And now your grip turns lighter.

Now more than ever i just wish,

Wish that i had held on tighter.

Now we're no longer young,

And when you closed your eyes,

My world seemed to crash down,

While your world left in sighs.

We are no longer young,

And my head is down bowed,

As breaths turn shorter,

i wish that i had never let go.

No longer that young,

And i'm bleeding without your bandage.

And your body stills,

i wish your death wasn't an adage.

I wish,

I wish,

I wish,

that we were still young.
