Nellie was on her morning shift, it was quite busy.
"Toby can you just bring this pies to that table I'm going to bring Mr T's breakfast" she was in a rush she went quickly the stairs to the shop up she put the tray down and when she got up she saw him staring at her "Had he been drinking again? Bloody barber!" she thought, rolled her eyes and stepped out, she closed the door really hard so that he was shocked by the sound and went quickly back down.
Sweeney didn't really expect her to react like that, he thought she would rather have a whole talk about him needing to eat a little. He was in his own world with his thoughts. He was trying to focus on killing the judge for his revenge but every thought turned out to her again. How could he get her out of his mind that was his biggest question these days. His late wife was another big question mark in front of his eyes where he couldn't put a picture on her face anymore, it was hurting him. He sighed.
The bell of the pie shop door rang, the doctor entered the shop with his bag in his hand "Good morning Eleanor, quite busy for a morning" he smiled.
"Good morning doctor, isn't it" she laughed and wiped her hands on her apron.
"I'm just coming to look at your wounds, do you have some time?" he came closer to the counter.
"I'm just going to hand out this tray of pies and then we have time" she gave a smile.
When Eleanor came back they went to her bedroom, Eleanor put her herself on the edge of the bed with her back to the doctor and the doctor sat down behind her, she loosened her dress and corset a bit so that the doctor could look at the wounds.
"It looks good Eleanor it's healing day by day, I would come for another checkup and that would be the last I think." he said examining her wounds.
"Do you think it's going to stay this ugly Doctor?" she asked worried.
"No Eleanor it would get better with time but don't worry it won't take away from your beauty" he smiled.
Eleanor blushed "Thank you Doctor"
"For what?" he asked not understanding.
"For everything for helping me with the wounds, coming to check and treat regularly and now for giving me a compliment" she smiled shyly.
"You're very cute when you're shy Eleanor, has anyone ever said that to you before?" he saw her face from the side and was putting ointment on her back.
"Honestly not" she replied. Albert was never the one for nice words or romanticn behavior, although she would have loved to have that, and now.. the barber who had her heart didn't even notice her or he kissed her and pretended afterwards nothing had happened. Maybe she should just let him go and accept that it would never work between them. But how could she do that he had her heart she was in love with him, she'd never felt that way even not for the man she had been married to for 17 years. She gave a deep sigh.
"I've seen you start working, yet I asked you to take it easy," he said, changing the subject.
"Yes but I have Toby helping me, I can manage don't worry" Eleanor fastened her dress after the doctor had done his job.
"I have no doubts about that, I knew you weren't someone who could sit down" he laughed they were leaving Eleanor's bedroom together.
"She laughed along "Well you got to know me well in a short time" Just when they came through the doorway she saw Sweeney standing in the staircase just a few steps before he was in the Parlor. He stood there with his tray in his hands. She saw him clenching his jaw.
The doctor was the first to speak "Hello Mr Todd"
"Hello" he mumbled.
Eleanor was ignoring him and led the doctor to the door to wish him a good day. Sweeney actually felt like going back upstairs, he came down to save her the work but to be honest he already regretted it, he was there now and he had the tray with his mug and plate on it it would be stupid to take it back upstairs so he went to kitchen.
