The ship was pulled into a whirlpool. It creaked and screamed in protest the ropes holding it pulled tight enough to be mistake as ground if someone were to walk on it.
"The ship can't take it. We have to cut the lines!" Jacob screamed up at the captain who was walking the mast lance in hand.
"I've never run from a fight, and I won't start now!" The captain yelled back.
"We must! Even dead, it'll drag us to the bottom!" Jacob tried to reason with him. Yet Lillianna had seen a man blinded by ambition before. And she could see it the captain's eyes. Maisie looked around at the chaos before she pulled her knife from her belt. She sent a hesitant glance to Lillianna who only nodded. The rain beat down on the two, the ship was unstable so every time Maisie went to cut it she would be thrown off. Lillianna slammed the axe into the main wrapping her arm around Maisie to steady her.
The captain raised his lance only to be throw off when one of the ropes snapped.
"Maisie Brumble, cut those lines, and I'll kill you for a coward!" The captain yelled halting her ever so slightly. Lillianna wasn't going to force her to do anything her didn't want to do. Yet Maisie didn't need that, she continued to saw away at the rope despite the captain's threat.
"Jacob, stop her!" The captain ordered. Jacob swung down grabbing her arm to stop her. Lillianna could see the battle in his eyes. She saw the hesitation. That's all she needed.
"Jacob!" the captain yelled. Pulling the axe from the wood Lillianna threw there hands apart before bringing the axe down snapping the rope completely in half. Without it they all slid forward plunging into the cold sea.
As they floated there in the water Lillianna turned and found Maisie. Swimming up to her she stopped to see what she was staring it. Turning to where she was pointing the rest of Lillianna breath left her. The beast was starting intently at them. It continued to stare for a bit before disappearing deep into the sea swallowed by the darkness. Lillianna shared a bewildered look with the other two before they swam for the surface. Coughing and sputtering Lillianna made sure Maisie was alright before they swam to the safety boat. Pushing her up into the boat Lillianna tried to heave herself into the boat her dress weighing her down. Seeing her struggle Jacob reached out helping her up.
"T-Thankyou," Lillianna said breathing heavily.
"Bring her to me!" The captain yelled from the boat.
"What are you gonna do?" Jacob yelled back. Lillianna reached out placing her hands on Maisies shoulders.
"I said bring her to me!" The captain was angry, furious.
"She's just a child," Jacob argue holding his hand out protectivly.
"I'm giving you an order!" he yelled pulling a gun from one of the sailors belts. Lillianna pushed Maisie behind her shocked at the captains orders.
"Please, Captain," Jacob begged.
"Bring... her... to... me," he demanded. There was a rumble and before they knew it the boat was completely enclosed in the jaws of the Red Bluster.
Lillianna clung onto the first thing she could when she thought she would die. That thing just so happened to be a certain sailor. A certain sailor who held her back just as tightly. When the shaking had stopped. Lillianna opened her eyes only too see darkness.
"Now who's the one groping?" Jacob whispered his lips closer to Lillianna then she had expected. His hot breath fanning her ear. With those words she noticed where her hand was placed.
Jumping back she hissed as her hip hit the side of the dingy. Jacob quickly lit up a lantern that put Lillianna's gash on full display. It was a nasty one splitting her eyebrow a fresh wave of blood spilling into her eye. Seeing there concerned look she whipped away the blood only to hiss at the pain.
"I'm fine," she whispered. Jacob handed her a handkerchief to which she pressed on the gash. A deep guttural sound had them looking around to see huge teeth.
"Were in its mouth, were in its mouth," Lillianna whispered in bewilderment. Maisie was wrapped around Jacobs head. They looked down its throat to the seemingly endlessly beyond.
"Are we gonna die?" Maisie asked shakily. Lillianna reached up helping her down. Jacob helped set her down and took a serious expression.
"No," he said with another growl coming from the throat.
"Well yeah," he said earning a bewilder look from Lillianna.
"What the hell, you don't say that to a child," Lillianna hissed slapping his chest.
"Well what am I supposed to say?" he asked in aspiration.
"Is it gonna chew us, or will we get digested slowly with acids?" Maisie asked the fear clear on her face.
"Of course not love," Lillianna said pulling her shaking form into a side hug glaring at Jacob.
"I don't know, Maisie. This is all new territory for me," he answered honestly.
"Haven't you hunted these things your whole life?" she asked.
"We kill 'em, lass. We don't study 'em," he answered.
"I guess it's time to start," he said. Jacob tied a rope to Lillianna then to Maisie. With the lance he set out down the throat.
"Jacob, what if it swallows you?" Maisie asked softly.
"Cut the rope," he answered brutally.
