Lillianna loved spending time at their cottage just as much as she loved the sea. Their little two-bedroom sanctuary didn't take much work to turn into a home. After all, it was the people in it that made it that way. Jacob and Lillianna had their room. A small one where you could only get into the bed from one side. Jacob didn't mind it though. He could trap Lillianna in when he wanted to sleep in. Masie had her own little room. The bed pushed up against the side the knives Sarah had given her proudly hung up on her wall. They had a kitchen that faced their dining room table. A simple wooden one with four seats. The living room held three chairs. Lillianna's rocking chair that she would do her needlework or read in. A bigger chair meant for Jacob was mostly used by Maisie. And the smaller one that looked tiny when Jacob sat on it. In the corner of the room sat a bookcase with books from all around the world. Beside it sat a fireplace its mantle filled with framed portraits Lillianna had drawn. Lillianna loved the slow mornings where she would wake up in the arms of the man she loved. The light kisses he dusted her face in as they woke up. She loved cooking breakfast, eggs and bacon. She loved trying to save both Maisie and Jacob when they tried to help her. She didn't know how many pan's alit with burning bacon they had chucked into the bay outside. There day's were filled with simple tasks, cutting wood, planting and harvesting the crops. and in there down time Lillianna would read a book on the shore as Maisie and Jacob would head out to fish. More often than not the two would somehow manage to flip the boat. Then when dinner was finished they would put Maisie to bed.
Lillianna hummed to herself as she set the dry plates back in the cabinet. Her humming stopped as the sound of a music box filled there small living room. Smiling as Jacob ran his hands along her arms till he held her hands. Pulling her into the center of the room her turned her around with nothing but love in his warm smile. Lillianna shared that same smile as she stepped closer to him resting her head on his chest as they swayed slowly. It was a tradition of there's. Never broken to that day. Maisie smiled peeking out of the slightly ajar door. It was a tradition of hers also. Pretending to fall asleep only to get up when she heard the music.
"Hows that arm treating ya?" he asked softly after some time.
"I think I'll be able to take the stiches' out soon," Lillianna responded watching his thumb gently rub over there intertwined hands.
"You know this reminds me of something," Jacob said with a small grin. Hearing the mischief in his voice Lillianna looked up at him.
"Oh yeah? What?" she asked.
"Well there was once this time where I was dancing with this woman. And god she is the most beautiful woman I have ever meet," Lillianna smiled widely at his words. "And I suggested that she live the life she wanted, not the one she had," he mused.
"And what happened to this beautiful woman?" Lillianna asked.
"Well she got to get up when she wanted. She got to chose what she wanted to wear and what to eat. And she married the most amazing man in the world," he said making the two chuckle.
"What a great life," Lillianna hummed.
"Aye, it really is," he said learning down to give her a deep sweet kiss. And just like there first there hearts raced and there cheeks flushed.
"Well your wrong about one thing," Lillianna said after she pulled back from the kiss.
"Oh yeah? what?" he asked as they pressed their foreheads together.
"She didn't just marry the most amazing man in the world," Lillianna said in a matter of fact tone.
"Oh yeah?" he asked.
"She married the man she fell hopelessly and utterly in love with," she smiled brightly. "and she got an amazing daughter to," Lillianna added winking at Maisie who smiled opening the door and walking up to them. Although two years older Jacob still reached down hoisting her up into one arm.
"Aren't I getting a bit to big for this?" Maisie asked with a small giggle.
"You shut your mouth. I'll have no more growing from you am I understood?" Lillianna scolded her playfully.
"Yes mum," Maisie grinned.
"Well I don't know about you two but that left over brownies are calling my name," Jacob grinned pulling the two he loved the most over to the kitchen.
The next day Lillianna was outside holding a ladder steady as Jacob fixed a leak in the roof. After they had dug into the brownie's the night before a slight burst of rain had come making the leak apparent.
"Please be careful!" Lillianna called up the ladder.
"Love I've done things way more dangerous than this," Jacob called down to her flipping the hammer in his hand.
"And tell me how many of those things resulted in injury?" Lillianna asked.
"Not all of them," Jacob shugged slipping slightly on the roof only to catch himself and chuckle nervously down at Lillianna.
"Mase love go get the medical kit. Your fathers gonna learn he can't fly in a minute," Lillianna huffed to Maisie who was watching the whole scene with a smile.
"I say let him suffer. Let him learn by his mistakes," Maisie shrugged picking up Blue to pet.
"If that worked he would have been one of the wisest men in the world right now," Lillianna shared in her cheeky grin.
"You two know I can hear ya right?" Jacob asked.
"What was that love?" Lillianna called jokingly making him shake his head, but he stilled smiled.
Yet his smile dropped when he saw a group of approaching flags carrying the crest of the council. And by the looks of them they seemed to be in a rush.
