Maisie who was half asleep peeked her head up. A warm smile graced her lips at what she saw. Jacob was staring lovingly at Lillianna as she spoke. The two were laughed at something she said.

That night the two simply talked. They laughed they joked, they got to know each other. Jacob learnt that there was more than just a princess, and Lillianna learnt that the hunter wasn't as great as they claimed him to be in the story books.

"God hornagold, more like horny for gold," Lillianna remark had Jacob laughing, not a half laugh but a full laugh. Lillianna smiled widely.

"You have a nice laugh," Lillianna said softly. The two fell into a comfortable silence.

"Hey come on," Jacob said standing holding his hand out Lillianna. Gently taking it he lead them over to there stuff grabbing his belt and pulling out a small silver box. Winding it up he opened the top a soft mellodie playing.

"What are you doing?" Lillianna asked.

"Well since you love to dance so much," he said holding out his hand with a smile. Lillianna smiled back sliding her hand into his. Gently pulling her in he placed a hand around her waist as she placed one on his shoulder. The rum did well to calm their hearts but they were still beating wildly.

"I have to say. You hunter are mighty fine dancers," Lillianna whispered.

"Oh you've danced with other hunters?" he asked.

"Oh yes many," Lillianna chuckled.

"Well can other hunters do this?" he asked spinning her out before spinning her back in earing a giggle from her.

"Impressive," she nodded.

The two continued to dance to the slow music.

"I do have to ask, where did you learn to throw lives like that?" he asked.

"It was Lia, uh the general. We grew up together. She would sneak the knifes in and we would use my fathers wig holder as a target," Lillianna said reminiscing fondly on the memories.

"You know you don't have to go back," Jacob suggestion was hesitant earning a frown from Lillianna.

"What do you mean?" she asked.

"Everyone thinks you're dead. You could just disappear. Plus I dont think anyones gonna recognize you with that thing on your head," he said nodding his nose to her hair. Lillianna's chuckle died down as she really thought about it. He was telling the truth.

"And then what?" she asked.

"Well then, you get up when you want. You choses what you want to wear and what to eat. And you marry a man you love and have as many children as you want," he said. As he said this a image wormed its way into Lillianna mind. She thought of such a future. A future where the man she married was standing right in front of her.

"And who do you suppose I marry?" she asked. He shrugged.

"I don't know, anyone you like really," he said, he wanted so badly to say "Me". He could picture it clear as day. Himself sitting at the edge of a doc beside a small cottage with Lillianna by his side and Maisie playing of somewhere to the side.

"Well I do have someone I fancy," the words spilled from her mouth before she could stop them.

"Oh yeah, w-who is it?" Jacob asked trying to sound cool and collected but failing miserably.

"Oh Captain Crow of course," Lillianna said jokingly. Jacob sighed shaking his head trying to clam his heart. The two locked gazes only this time it was different. The music faded the box running out of time. Slowly there sways stopped and they simple stared into each others eyes. jacobs eye flickered down to Lillianna's lips. He was kicking himself in his head. He had never been this nervous before. Not even when hunting sea monsters. Luckily he didn't have to wait anymore, it was Lillianna that leaned in placed her lips on his. The kiss was chast and sweet at first. Lillianna pulled back only for Jacobs hand to pull her into him the one holding her hand moving up her neck to grasp it softly pulling her back in. This time the kiss was more. There wasn't fireworks like the books usually say. There was just a feeling, a feeling of completeness, of unbridled happiness. a feeling that just felt so right, so perfect. The feeling of two part becoming a whole. Lillianna grasped his shirt in her balled fists.

He was one hell of a kisser. he pulled her in close the two othe them wanting to feel each other as much as they could.

"No," the simple word broke both here hearts as Lillianna pulled down shoving her head into his chest. They both breathed heavily there minds whirling with what they had just done.

Lillianna had been the one to say the word. Why? Because in her moment of bliss the face of her parents appeared.

"What?" Jacob asked wondering if he had heard her properly.

"I can't do this," she whispered in utter distraught closing her eyes.

"Why?" the crack she heard in Jacobs voice had tears gathering in her eyes.

"I have a duty to my kingdom, to the people," Lillianna whispered.

"Screw duty, Lillianna. You don't have to do anything you don't want to," he said ducking down to look in her eyes. Grabbing her cheeks in his hands he tilted them up.

"If I don't return. Hornagold will be appointed as hire. If he rules alone the people will suffer. He has no compassion. My selfishness is no excuse for the suffering of thousands," Jacob knew her words were true. They were true but he didn't want them to be. Sighing sadly she pressed her forehead to his reaching up to place her hands over his.

"Heavy is the head that wears the crown and caged is the heart that resides in it," Lillianna whispered.

"So what now?" he asked softly.

"Just hold me, just for tonight," Lillianna begged.

And he did. He held her tightly the whole night both of them enjoying and dreading it.

That night would be the whisper of a great love story that will never be.
