As Red breached the shore the three slipped down onto the beach. Setting there things down they turned back to Red.

"Well, girl, this has been an improbable adventure. And I thank you for all you've done, but, uh, it's time to go home now," Jacob said. There was a moment of silence as he reached for the spear.

"And I promise I'll never hunt sea monsters again," he said hiking the spear up holding it above his head.

"No more monster hunting!" he yelled bringing it down onto his knee. It was supposed to break.

It didn't.

He tried his best to keep in his painful groans as he held up his figure asking for a moment. Lillianna grimaced at the pain. Red growled softly with an unimpressed expression.

"Hang about," he panted limping back slightly. "Okay. No more!"

He tried again. And failed again. He groaned doubling over. Lillianna reached out wanting to help but pulled her hand back.

"No more!" he yelled slamming the spear against a rock only for it to spring back up and hit him in the face.

"Ow! Jeez!" he yelled in pain before sighing.

"Look, you understand the point I'm trying to make here, right? It's a... It's a symbolic gesture," he said . Red growled softly.

"I think she understands," Masies said.

Jacob smiled softly at her before looking down at blue. Maisie understood turning blue around in her arms. Blue gave her a big lick making her giggle softly. Lillianna reached forward rubbing his head.

"Thanks for everything blue," Lillianna whispered.

"All right, then. Time to go home," Jacob said taking Blue and gently placing him back in the sea.

Maisie sniffled slightly before running forward hugging Reds nose.

"Go on, girl. Go home," Maisie said. Lillianna smiled waving slightly at the beast.

Red snorted affectionately before sniffing deeply her eye shifting up.

"Red?" Maisie questioned as she raised up before moving forward deeper into the island.

"Red!" Jacob called as they all rushed after her up the hill.

As they cusped the hill dread set in. In the bay of the island sat the imperator. And Red wasn't happy to see it at all.

"Red, listen to me. Just leave. This doesn't have to be a fight," Jacob tried to deter Red but she was having none of it. Instead she moved forward slightly.

"No, Red. Go. Go on, Red. Just leave them be," Jacob yelled in desperation.

"Red, we have to go. Please!"Maisie begged.

"Come on back to the sea!" Lillianna yelled gesturing back the way they came.

A gun shot echoed around them the bullet defecting harmlessly off Reds horn. That one sign of aggression was all she needed. She charged forward with a roar.

"No, Red! No!" Jacob yelled as they all ran after her. Lillianna didn't notice Jacob missing, all she was focused on was keeping up with Maisie.

"Red! Come back!" Maisie screamed.  With a delcliration of fire the side of the island was littered with bullets and canon fire. They had no effect on Red. Lillianna and Maisie was another story.

"Maisie! Lillianna!" Jacob yelled In worry.

"No, Red! Stop!" Maisie yelled rushing down the island side.

"Maisie!" Lillianna screamed. Hearing a scream from behind her she looked back slightly. Seeing Jacob had only stumbled she went to turn back around when a burst of pain spread through her shoulder. Stumbling she barely had time to acknowledge the pain when she saw Maisie being thrown into the air.

"MAISIE!" They both yelled. Lillianna was the first to get to her skidding to her knees as she picked her up.

"Maisie! Are you all right, lass?" Jacob asked skidding up next to them.

"Is Red okay?"Maisie asked weakly. Lillianna watched with wide eyes as Red rammed the imperator her horn cleaving it clean in half. Rearing up she was prepared the deliver the death blow when a bullet skimmed across the back of her neck. Red turned around to see Jacob standing on a rock the smoke of a musket washing over him as he lowered it. When Red saw Maisie gathering in Lillianna's arms. Red swam back over letting out a concerned growl.

Jacob rushed up to them placing his hand on his sword.

"Stay back beast," Jacob demanded pulling his sword out of its seth before holding it protectively in front of the two.

"Leave em be," he said.

A bright red light had them looking past Red to see a flare of the inevitable. Jacob pulled his spyglass and confirmed that it indeed was. As Red left to persue it Maisie moved in Lilliannas arms.

"Don't move love, your hurt," Lillianna said shakily. Jacob rushed back to them first checking over Maisie before looking over Lillianna noticing her fear full expression. Reaching up he gently took the side of her neck brushing his thumb against her cheek giving her a reassuring look.

"There's nothing to be done Lass," He admitted honestly brushing Maisies hair out of her face.

"She doesn't have to do this,"  Maisie whimpered.

"Yes, she does," Jacob responded looking out to the scene. Lillianna felt something wet on her hand and as she pulled it up her heart sunk.

"Jacob," Lillianna's dread filled whisper drew his eyes to her blood stained hand.
