"For what?" he asked in disbelief.

"For what?" Lillianna repeated his words amused. "I don't know about you but I personally don't like to be insulted. Especially by people that don't know the first thing about me," Lillianna said. She knew he knew what she wanted him to apologize for.

"Fine I'm sorry, now help me out," he huffed in defeat. Lillianna looked over him. It was a half assed apology but it was still an apology. Pretending to think she let out a thoughtful hum tilting her head to the side. Jacob sighed giving her an are you for real look. A look that had Lillianna smiling slightly. Jacob felt his anger wash away at that slight pleasant smile. Pushing herself up she looked around finding a vine. Cutting it down she tied a few together to make a make shift rope. Jacob found himself watching her every move, admiring her actually. His eyes trailed over her face coming to a stop at her lips, that at the moment she had the bottom lip pinned between her teeth as she focused on tying of the last knot. Brushing the hair out of her face her eyes snapped up to Jacob who quickly looked away a small blush rising up his neck, having been caught.

"Here," Lillianna called throwing him one end of the rope before tying the other to a tree. Pulling himself free Lillianna held her hand out to him. He went to reach out and take it only for him to pause seeing how his hand was covered in mud.  Lillianna huffed grabbing a hold of it pulling him up, With quit a bit of strength.  With such strength that had the hunter stumbling forward. Lillianna blinked at there proximity her hand reaching out to hold his chest to steady them.  The two stood for a moment, each of them looking into each others eyes there heart beats going slightly faster than normal. Jacob caught a wiff of her perfume lavender he believed. To Lillianna Jacob smelt of the sea. He smelt nice.  Clearing her throat she stepped back pulling her hand back. Jacob cleared his throat too scratching the back of his neck.

"Didn't think princess's touched mud," he said.

"I'm not just a princess you know," Lillianna muttered picking up the bag. "Just like your not just a hunter," she said holding out out to him.

"Oh and what else am I?' he asked taking the bag.

"Your a collector," Lillianna said confidently. He smiled with a huff wondering how exactly she knew it.

"My best guess is that you collect an item for everywhere you go. The red shells from the northern shores. The ice rocks from Galdov. And you like to collect books, mystery if I'm right?" She listed off the items she had seen on his self.

"And despite all your scars and your brooding face your just a big teddy bear that cares for that kid because you do see yourself in her," Lillianna finished with a small teasing smile.

"Now come on," she said leading the way back to the shell Jacob watching her back as she walked. Mabey he was wrong about her. Shaking the thought form his head he picked up his pace.

"Come on princess," he said.

"My names not princess you know. Its Lillianna," she huffed giving him a half glare but picking up her pace so she fell into step beside him.

The next morning Lillianna woke up to to the sound of another roar. opening her eyes she stretched slightly before pausing. Maisie was gone.

"Maisie?" she asked looking around. Fear quickly set into her stomach her mind whirling to the worst possible options.

"Jacob wake up. Jacob!" Lillianna shock Jacob only for him to wake in a start grabbing her arm and pulling his knife from his belt. Lillianna sucked in her breath as she stared down at the knife that had come to rest close to her neck, once Jacob realized it wasn't a beast in front of him he lower his knife with a relief filled sigh.

"Maisie's gone," At Lillianna's words his face instantly twisted in worry. They searched until they found her standing in the middle of an egg nest.

"What are you doing?" Jacob was the first to ask the question they were both thinking. Mainly because in Little Maisie's arms sat a small blue blob of a creature that Lillianna was staring blankly at.

"I, uh... I'm afraid anything I say will upset you," she answered bashfully.

"You're probably right. Just don't move," Jacob said setting down his stuff and hiking up his belt before starting to manoeuvring his way though the minefield of eggs.

"I'm sorry, but I've always wanted a pet," Maisie tried to justify her actions.

"Its alright Maisie. Just, stay still ok," Lillianna said stepping up to the edge watching Jacobs feet nervously.

"That's not a pet. It's a monster, and we're not keeping it," Lilianna thought how the conversation reminded her of a daughter finding a stray and begging her father to keep it.

"But I already named it," Maisie argued hugging the creature close.

"Let me guess. Blue," Jacob said pausing in front of her. Maisie groaned at his guess knowing he had hit the nail right on the head.

"You named that one Red. You named this one Blue. We stay much longer, and we'll have a rainbow of critters that wanna eat us," Jacob ranted.

"But he's so cute! Look at this face," Maisie said holding him up to Jacob with a broad smile. Lillianna had to admit.

"It is kinda cute," Lillianna pipped up.

"Your not helping," he said before turning back to Maisie. "And You and I have a different idea of cute," he said grabbing the beast by its head and reeling his arm back. Lillianna gasped as he pegged the small beast, it letting out a cry as it went flying through the air. Maisie looked on in horror at where the beast had disappeared, Jacob throwing her up onto his shoulder and making his way back.

"When we get to Guelston, I'll get you a cat, and you can name it Grey or White. Ginger, if you like," he said focusing on his feet.

"You're too young to be this mean," Maisie said letting her anger show.

"And you're too old to be giving in to childish temptations," Jacob said back.

"It ain't childish to want a pet. Lots of people have pets," she argued.

"Stop arguing, pay attention to your feet," Lillianna's words feel on death ears.

"Not pets that will lay eggs in your mouth that hatch and burst out through your chest cavity!" Jacob ranted one again.

"Don't tell her that! You'll give her nightmares," Lillianna said.

"And it was very specific," Maisie said her tone already holding fear at Jacobs words.

"Well, I seen some things, all right? Point is we don't know what he'd do. We don't know anything about this island, except we've got to get off it, by thunder!" He exclaimed his foot stepping down a crunch echoing around them.
