"Since when?"

I didn't sleep well enough last night. I kept on thinking about tomorrow, it's where I put I and Elias' fate. I didn't want it to end, of course. Nakaupo ako sa harap ng lamesa habang hinihintay ang pagkain para sa breakfast. My dad left early for work. Mas lalo akong kinabahan dahil wala naman akong kasama.

"Months..." I bit my lip.

"Months? Since what month?" She asked.

"June," napapikit ako. It has been 6 months!

"Ha," mom scoffed. "Tapos ngayon mo lang sa akin sinabi? Well, I knew this would happen. Because you're so stupid, hindi ka nag-iisip. Talaga? Anong sinabi niya kagabi? Na mag-aaral siya at papatunayan niya ang sarili niya? Hell no, kung gusto niyang patunayan ang sarili niya sa akin, e 'di umalis siya sa bahay ko. Sa akin din naman siya nagta-trabaho."

"Mommy," my forehead creased. Paano niya nagagawang sabihin ang mga 'yon?

"What? Totoo naman, ah!" She rolled her eyes.

Dumating ang pagkain namin kaya sandali kaming natigil sa pag-uusap. I held my utensils but I couldn't eat yet. Not yet, hindi ko pa nalalaman kung anong sagot ni Mommy.

"Do you finally agree with my relationship with Elias, Mommy?" Please say yes.

Sinulyapan niya ako. "Maybe you're just being blinded. Akala mo pagmamahal pero hindi naman pala talaga."

My lips moved. "Of course not. I know what it is, I'm not an easy girl."

"As you should," umirap siya. "Paano si Ja? Paano ang plano namin para sa inyo? You'll throw that away? What did I tell you before? Sabi ko na ibabalik ko si Elias kung saan siya nababagay kapag hindi niyo ako sinunod."

"Mommy," humina ang boses ko. "Please let me do this. I don't even know Ja that much, atsaka he doesn't care about all of these, too. Walang mangyayari sa sinasabi niyong 'yan. Atsaka, hayaan mo na kami ni Elias. We're not kids anymore. We know better, we know how it works. He's a nice guy, if you would only look at him, Mommy."

"If this is all just part of your spoiled scheme-"

My eyes widened. I immediately cut her words off. "What? Of course not! Mali ka, mommy. I love Elias! I love him! I will never fake my love for someone just for my own benefit!"

"Okay... Sinabi mo, basta panindigan mo. Don't come crawling to me when you realized I was right all along. You can never have a great future ahead if you choose that man. Who is he, anyway? He's nothing because he's poor. You loved him because of his kindness? Oh my dear, mapapakain ka ba ng kabaitan? Mabibili ba ng kabaitan ang lahat ng gusto mong bilhin?"

"I can provide for myself, hindi ko iaasa kay Elias ang mga bagay na para sa akin." Tumalim ang tingin ko.

"Let's see... Let's just see where it will bring you. The both of you." Tumayo siya atsaka masama akong tinignan.

"Time can tell, Chanty. You just wait." She added, then furiously left the dining.

Naiwan akong nakatulala sa hapagkainan. As much as I wanted to break down, I couldn't. May pasok pa ako at kailangan kong ayusin ang sarili ko. I stood up and tried to pull myself together. I went back to my room and prepared for the day.
