"Alas, do you remember what Peppa Pig calls her father?"

I stared into my son's eyes as confusion slowly runs through his eyes. He looked up to me with eyes so bright. I could feel my chest pounding so fast and the happenings were so clear to me. Buhat ko si Alas sa kandungan ko habang nakaupo kaming dalawa sa couch.

Hindi ako pumasok ngayon dahil napagusapan namin ni Elias kung paano namin sasabihin kay Alas. I don't know what would happen but I wish for the better. I know it would be hard for Alas to meet someone who wasn't there... I mean, someone he was not familiar with at all. Natatakot ako na baka mahirapan siya pero hindi tama na palagi akong natatakot.

I know I had to tell him now. We waited for Elias to come to our unit. He has something urgent in the site so he went there in the morning. Hanggang ngayon ay hindi pa rin siya bumabalik. Kanina pa kabog nang kabog ang dibdib ko, kabado sa pwedeng mangyari.

"Dad! Daddy Pig! Dada.." He answered, giggling.

"You're right." I smiled to him as I caressed his arms. "Do you want to meet your Dada?"

Natigilan siya. "Mommy, do I have dada?"

A single tear fell from my eyes. "Of course. You have.."

"Then, why is he not around? Why can't I see him? It's only you, Mama."

I raised my hand to caress his cheek. I bit my lower lip, trying to sniffle my cries. Am I really selfish like what he told me last night? Sarili ko lang ba talaga ang iniisip ko? Kasalanan ko ba talaga kung bakit hindi siya kilala ng anak niya? Do I really hide his son from him? I did. I fucking did. It was because I can't pull him down. I was aware he was studying, how could I tell him I was pregnant?

I was so sure he would come running to me. I was so sure that he would leave everything when he learned about it. Pero hindi naman ganoon, I only want him to succeed in his life. Kapag nangyari 'yon, balak ko naman talagang sabihin sa kaniya. Balak ko siyang hanapin. Balak kong aminin lahat.

Those were my plans not until I bumped into him suddenly. Nagulo na ang lahat.

"I'm sorry, Alas. I hope someday, you will understand everything. Maintindihan mo sana ako. I'm so sorry,"

Napalingon ako sa pinto nang tumunog ang door bell. I was positive it was Elias. Bumaling muna ako kay Alas bago tumayo at dumiretso sa pinto. I gulped when our eyes met, it was like I froze for a second. Bumaba ang tingin ko sa mga dala niyang paper bag. Some were from Toy Kingdom, and some were clothes from branded shops.

"I brought him toys and clothes." He paused, looking into my eyes. "Where is he?"

"Uh," I took a step back, letting go of the door. Nang tuluyan na siyang nakapasok ay mabilis kong sinara ang pinto.

When I turned, I immediately saw Alas' wide eyes while looking at his dad. At his dad.

"Anak," I called. "Come here,"

Nasa likod ako ni Elias. He just stood there, I could feel him being hopeful. He did not move, sa tingin ko ay pinagmamasdan niyang maigi si Alas.

"Mama," Alas called and get off from the couch, tumatakbong lumapit sa 'kin.

Binuhat ko siya noong tuluyan na siyang makalapit. Elias turned to us, eyes were watering.
