You really hoped that after today, biking away from monstrous creatures in this hell hole would cease. Yet there you both were, again, biking as fast as you could to lead the bats away from the trailer, distracting them from going back to the Creel house. Your lungs burned as you kept up the insane pace, looking back every now and then to assess the situation.
It wasn't good to say the least.
Rounding a corner, you almost skidded off the bike, groaning as you barely managed to keep yourself up right. Eddie shouted every now and then to make sure they remained on your tail, not that you were sure that would be a problem.
You could feel the flap of their wings, the air suffocating around you. It didn't help that you could feel him again. Knocking on your mental door, like a vampire waiting for access. It didn't matter. It didn't matter, you just had to keep going. You just had to keep---
Losing control of your bike, you slammed into the ground, skidding across the pavement harshly.
"Y/n!" Eddie screamed, screeching to a stop and tossing the bike aside. He rushed to your aid, carefully picking you up. You looked at the swarm of bats, tears in your eyes. You knew you couldn't outrun them.
Pushing Eddie away, you picked up your shield, "Run. I can, I can hold them off, but you have to run."
He stared at you incredulously, "What?"
"Eddie, you don't have time! You have to go, now!" You shouted, seeing the swarm collect into one giant storm. Getting ready for a final blow, you assumed.
Grabbing your face, he smiled tightly, "You're insane if you think I'm leaving you behind." Picking up his shield, he stood ground beside you. Using your words against you; wonder where he got that.
"No more running," You breathed, grabbing his hand. Nodding to you, he took a deep breath, holding his shield in front of him. You did the same, the collage of bats shooting towards you. Your feet slid back slightly from the force of their attack, bat after bat either getting caught in your shields, or flying past you. Eddie kept a firm hand on your back. The final push made you stumble, Munson catching you.
"Holy shit," He rasped, firmly grasping his spike. It wasn't over yet. They merely regrouped, getting divebombed by the creatures. You wondered why they didn't all attack at once, but then again, you were grateful; at least it gave you a fighting chance.
Swinging your weapons at incoming attacks, you pressed back to back. Creature after creature, each attack becoming hard to evade, or strike back against. The swarm was unrelenting, and in the back of your mind, you started to come to the realization. Maybe you didn't really have a fighting chance.
But that was ok. Well, it wasn't ok, you really didn't want to die, there was so much in your life you wanted to do, but you had the chance to protect someone you loved. If you died doing that, you would be ok with it.
It wasn't long before the creatures circled the two of you, trapping you in a whirlwind of wings. No escaping. No retreating. Fight, or die. Personally, you really wanted to make it to that date.
"Watch out!" Eddie exclaimed, multiple bats diving down at once. You were able to fend them off, for now, but it wouldn't be long before they outnumbered you. Your heart palpitated against your chest, arms hurting from the force of your swings. Tired and afraid, your guard slipped, a bat ramming into your side. Your weapons scattered as you hit the ground.
Munson swatted the bat away from you, standing in front of you protectively til you could grab your weapons. Scrambling for them, you managed to pick up your staff, standing back up and stabbing one trying to attack Eddie from behind.
